Killing Them Safely (IMDb 6.6/10) (Netflix)

In the early 2000s, two brothers found tremendous success when their company began selling a device that has been called 'the biggest revolution in law enforcement since the radio.' But as their company grew, they made decisions that would have lasting impact on both the public and their increasingly skeptical customer base.

What I/we don't know about tasers and how deadly they can be. Scary stuff.

Janice: Little Girl Blue (IMDb 7.4/10)

Musician Cat Power narrates this documentary on Janis Joplin's evolution into a star from letters that Joplin wrote over the years to her friends, family, and collaborators.

Before your time but thought you might like to check it out. Stay safe.

See What I'm Saying

It's a documentary on deaf creative talents. Broke my heart to see the struggle they have just to be normal. And they aren't the ones with the problem. They ARE normal. Hearies are the ones who make the problems, who stereotype the problems, who perpetuate the problems.

Just be kind to people, guys. We all have our thing that makes us different from each other. And although we may not understand each other, or we are uncomfortable in situations -- we all understand kindness. Just do your best to treat people the way you want to be treated.

I watched this:

Thanks for the recommend champ1966 . Really interesting. But I have to say, I was wanting to smack the scientist guy. He was going into primitive tribes and scaring the bejesus out of them talking all sciencey. Not insulting anyone's intelligence by saying that.

I just felt he could've explained what he was doing with a little more care to his audience.

But it was fascinating to watch the journey.

(Dis)Honesty The Truth About Lies (NetFlix)

From ticket-fixing in our police departments to test-score scandals in our schools, from our elected leaders' extra-marital affairs to financial schemes undermining our economy, dishonesty seems to be a ubiquitous part of the news. But it's not just true in the headlines - we ALL cheat.

I enjoyed it very, very much.

It is interesting IMO.

I didn't write the description, say sorry. (It's from IMDb.)

You don't *cheat*? The manner the professor defines *cheating* I think, is how his studies and research defines it.

(I still haven't been able to check out Bloodlines, dang it.)

I saw part of the documentary (Not all) and they were doing testing. Giving people a math thing and seeing how many they could do in a certain period of time. They wouldn't check, but would just ask, how many did you get done? For every one they got done, they were paid a dollar. Most lied.

I wouldn't lie. It would be stealing. I don't steal. and in that context, I don't cheat.

OJ Made in America.

It's is sickening.

I thought I had enough of OJ when the TV show was on a few months ago but here I am fascinated by another OJ doc. When I see these things and see the monumental amount of evidence against him, it's hard to believe he was acquitted.

One thing I learned that I didn't know before was that OJ made over 3 million dollars signing autographs while he was in the LA county jail.

Chisholm '72: Unbought & Unbossed (2004)

Interesting doc on Shirley Chisholm, the first African American woman elected to congress and the first African American woman to run for President. I was only 11 years old in 1972 but I remember her running for President. She knew that she didn't have much of a chance for President but she wanted to start breaking down some barriers and she succeeded.

The 1972 Democratic race was pretty interesting. Hunter Thompson's book Fear And Loathing On The Campaign Trail is about the 1972 race and a good read.

L Word Mississippi: Hate the Sin
Gay women in the south dealing with bigotry and sexism from religious people who think they know everything.
I was especially saddened by one woman who was denying her homosexuality due to pressure from her church.

Why do religious people think they know how others should live their lives? I realize that many go by the Bible, but it can be interpreted any way someone wants it to be. I just don't get it. The judgmental bullying and sanctimonious BS directed toward homosexuals is just hate hiding behind the mask of religious "love." Some of the Christians who so judge homosexuals forget that there are verses about how braiding your hair, wearing gold or pearls, and eating shellfish are also sins. Yet you don't see them in Joe's Crab Shack hoisting their signs about hating me because I ate the steampot with the crab and shrimp. *SIGH*

I don't get it either. As a church goer, your "job" is to love your neighbor as thyself. God does not need micromanagers or middle men, but everyone seems to think they should be.

God, if you believe in God, will have a conversation with each and every one of us. Mano y mano. God isn't going to invite Gladys from the church choir to join in. This will be a private meeting. I think he's got a handle on it. I'm pretty sure he knows how to deal with people. (Once he got past that teenage angry sh*t in the old testament, he grew up.)

Everyone just needs to worry the f about themselves. When YOU (the Royal YOU) are perfect, absolutely flawless, then maybe God will move you up in the corporation. Untll then, shut your yap and treat people the way you want to be treated. Is that so friggin' hard?

Watched Hillsborough the other day, all about the tragic 1989 football disaster in Sheffield, England, when 96 people were killed (most of them crushed) in the stadium's overcrowded standing terrace. It was all the cops fault, letting them pile in that way, but the bastards covered it up, and immediately blamed it on 'drunken and unruly' Liverpool fans. Ohhh, these kinda things just twist my bisquits. Some of the images were just horrible--all those people twisted, mangled, and trampled underfoot. This one will make you mad.
