vic and bob are funny on the show, but I still cringe watching it with family - 'specially the girl talking about her school day sex life.

I've been watching making a murderer - a complete stitch up if you ask me. scary stuff, bent coppers.

one to watch 'journey' the story of the band looking for a new front man- brilliant, a Malaysian karaoke singer !!!

also - Artefact - Jared Leto doco about the futility of fighting with your record Label - and how much they rip you off . $$$$$. '31 seconds to Mars' try and tear up contract only to be sued $30million !

Re-watched Woodstock tonight. Man, Jimi's show stopping performance still gives me goosebumps. But this time around I couldn't help noticing what a buncha filthy litterbugs those hippies were back then! Man, they just trashed Yasgur's farm something awful--all that trash they left behind! That footage at the end, after the festival, all those creepy characters picking through the leftover junk...ick.

The litterbugs were the ones that took the brown acid. The people that took the other acid didn't act that way.

The Untold History Of The United States (2012)

This is a 10 episode documentary covering the period from WWII to recent times. This show is about the little picture (or forgotten) events like congressional battles, public sentiment and negotiations that shaped big picture history post WWII US history. I've only seen the first 4 episodes so far but I am finding this fascinating. There's a lot of interesting stuff I didn't know about like the battle for vice president in 1944. Roosevelt wanted Henry Wallace for VP but the party picked Harry Truman. Roosevelt was not healthy enough to attend the convention and if he was, he probably would have got his way but his absence from the convention paved the way for Truman. Truman and Wallace were completely opposite characters and if Wallace would have become President, there probably would have been a completely different post WW II (it's up to the viewer to decide if that would have been good or bad).

Crumb - 1994

This guy is so weird. His attitude towards women, his sexual proclivities -- just so odd, but brilliant at the same time with his art. And his family, the ones that agreed to be filmed, are certifiable.

But, his art spoke for a generation. His talent is like some idiot savant thing, just the details of his portraits of actual people are amazing. I think all creative people have some odd little quirks, and some odd big quirks. I just think it's how creative people are wired.

If you can catch this, I recommend it.

Right-ON! Crumb is a genius. A warped genius, to be sure, but an incredible artist, and a major influence on my own art.

His drawings are so good. And he does them quickly. He looks and sees people and he captures them so succinctly. And his kids became artists. And they are good too. People's talents always intrigue me. What the hell is my talent? Nothing!

Crumb was just lucky to have come on the scene back in the psychedelic sixties and decadent seventies, when people could still appreciate and understand the darker, uninhibited aspects of such an artist. Contemporary critics have no tolerance for underground comix, nor for the twisted artists who chose to work in such a medium. Just not 'politically correct', dontcha know.

Bah, political correctness has NO PLACE in art, and it never has. True art isn't intended to reflect some loftier ideal of a better society: at its best art works like a mirror to reflect the horror that exists in our present society. Somewhere along the way people have forgotten this. Artists no longer have the freedom to showcase their demons in such a way. Mores the pity.

Bob Dylan: Roads Rapidly Changing

Hell yeah. All about Bob's early years, from a scruffy Woody Guthrie wannabe, to reluctant voice of the folkie protest movement, to his full blossoming as symbolist rock-n-roll poet. All this is covered in Martin Scorcese's far superior Don't Look Back, but still a damn watchable flick. Dylan is God, damn it.

Nobel Prize? You bet yer arse, bubba.

Breaking a Monster

Documentary about the band Unlocking the Truth. It was made before they managed to extricate themselves from the god-awful deal they signed with Sony. Sony should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of children like that. Seriously, the band's members are all 15 or younger. They sure can play. though \w/

I was wondering if anyone would know if or where I could watch the documentary done by PBS on Stephen King. I went to the website and all they have is a two minute clip and I can't find the full episode anywhere. I haven't seen it and I don't think it aired here in this country. If anyone knows, could they leave a link.

I watched it when it first aired but haven't been able to watch it on YouTube because only snippets are available. I wish I could remember King's actual surname. Powell? Something with a 'p'. Hope you are able to see it one day.
