Or am I the only one?
The notice on the main site about SK's recent podcast with Nerdette brought me to post this. StephenKing.com - Recent News: Podcast with Stephen

I want to listen to this, I really do, but two recent attempts to listen to podcasts affirmed that I really have no patience for them. The first was by a group of 3 intelligent people who talk about the positives & negatives of new items at Trader Joe's. Since I shop at Trader Joe's, I thought it would be a no brainer to listen to this. The other podcast was with Joe Hill (who I really like); it even may have been for Nerdette. On both occasions, I could not make it past the first five minutes. All the hemming and hawing, the going off on tangents, the "ums" "ers" and the like put me on edge. At least with an interview on TV or video, you see the people talking so all these things that bother me don't seem as magnified. But listening to a podcast while either trying to relax or even do some light work drives me bonkers.

Am I alone in this or are there others like me?

Not my thing either but I did listen to Steve's as I was curious about how it went and knew it wouldn't be any longer than 20 minutes max as that's the amount of time he told them they could have. I didn't notice any of the "ers" and "ums" that can be an annoyance in any interview. He's not talking about any of his work, though--this one was about corgis and why he's had them as his choice for breed of dog. So if that is of no interest to you, I can save you time by saying don't bother even though it is Steve. :smile2:

Thanks for the heads up. I like dogs, but not that interested to hear someone talk about a breed I wouldn't know if I tripped over one.

I did listen to the corgi SK one. I really did enjoy listening to him.

But, I have to tell you, the voices of the other, 'fake radio people' with stichks were on my last nerve. (I honestly don't know how he deals with press people, in such a natural, engaging and charming way)

Must just make for an new idea for a book. heh. I can only think he is smirking inside and filing this stuff away.

I can't do audiobooks either, so maybe it's just me.

Y'all breaking my heart!!!!

I understand they're not for everyone. I just enjoy talking about King and getting to talk to people I normally never would. Our last episode we got to talk to a Pulizter prize winning author - Mark Campbell about bringing opera to the masses by taking popular works like - The Shining - and writing a libretto for it. It was a blast. He was wonderful to talk to and radiated enthusiasm for the project. Someone I would never had gotten the opportunity to talk to otherwise.

It's a labour of love and if anyone else is interested and entertained by them, that's a wonderful bonus.

PS - we try to keep the pontificating to a minimum.
