I am so disappointed in this book bc I don't think he wrote it! I've been reading his books since I was a kid (Cujo; etc)and when I was given the Bachman books, I knew it was Stephen King. I missed all the usual expressions in Dr. Sleep like lookity loo. I have a weird sense of humor and love a good SK book and was mad enough last year to write a scorchingly angry letter but had nowhere to send it (online) bc my research showed I had to send it a certain way, blah blah. I'm hoping Mr. Mercedes is worth the cost bc Dr. Sleep wasn't. Please Mr. King, you're the best so please keep me as "your #1 fan"

And that's a joke

I hear ya about Doctor Sleep. Give Mr. Mercedes a shot though. I'm 75 pages in and it's pretty damn good so far.

People change, and so do writing styles. Maybe the style of the earlier books are more your cuppa--no biggy. If so, you probably will enjoy Mr. Mercedes and 11/22/63 more than some of the newer books; they both read in more of a throwback style to me.

I didn't see two styles in Dr. Sleep (If you read either of the books with Peter Straub or In The Tall Grass with Joe Hill, you'll know what I mean) so much as an older man's take on life and a more reflective style than, say, The Shining.

Welcome!
