I've been rewatching the series. Caught something today that didn't make sense.

Season 2 - The Girl in the Fireplace.

Why does the android say that Rose is compatible?

The androids are waiting for Reinette to be 37 to be compatible. Rose is much younger.

But more importantly, the ship is called Madame de Pompadour. How does Rose fit in that?

Next show in the series is "Rise of the Cybermen". This is Rose's first meeting with Cybermen and it takes place on a parallel earth.

They use the term compatible. They tell the doctor, Rose, Mickey and Ricky that they are incompatible. Not sure if this is in anyway related.

I think it means they are to be executed for interfering too much. Maybe they don't deserve the 'honor' of being upgraded. But then a couple cybermen/women do defect anyway ... so it's not always predictable just the same...

I understand the Cyberman. Just pointing out they used the same term.

But I do not understand why the clown-looking automatrons in Girl in the Fireplace say Rose is compatible.

As part of the Christmas Day marathon Spidey mentioned, BBC America is repeating the 6 episodes of the newly released animated version of The Power of the Daleks, Patrick Troughton's first story as the second Doctor. It's pretty good. I hope BBC continues animating lost episodes.

Thanks, I'll have to see if it's on SPACE here.

I've been watching the animated one. It's almost like a radio broadcast with the sound effects and stuff. Interesting.

Oh :( It will be released on DVD next month. I wish it were being released earlier. I always get hubby Doctor Who dvd's for Christmas and his birthday but we have them all now except for a couple that are no longer available. I had to get him that Doctor Who Trivial Pursuit game this year.

I've seen very little before Eccleston. We went through what the library had available, which was not much. Just some from the original Doctor.

Have been watching since the 1970's. Local PBS station showed the back episodes each week. Was fortunate to attend a fest with Jon Pertwee and (Elizabeth Sladen) Sarah Jane Smith. Obtained Tom Baker's signature when he was in Philadelphia. Hand made both a Tom Baker scarf and Sarah- white -scarf. Missed a few doctors, but have been back recent years.

I would have loved seeing Pertwee, Sladen and Baker in person. Pertwee and Baker are my favorite doctors and Sladen is my favorite companion. We have all the Sarah Jane Adventures on dvd. They're quite good :)
