News about the character Clara:
‘Doctor Who’ Companion Jenna Coleman Quits as Clara Oswald – Report - International Business Times
Wow. I really thought she was going to stay for a while...that changes everything! Should be interesting who is going to replace her!
Apparently this Danny Pink soldier fella is a new companion who will travel with The Doctor and Clara, and serve as Clara's love interest (much like Rory and Amy). Perhaps when Clara dies or leaves or whatever, he will stay with the Doctor. In that case, they would need another female co-star, as I can't see BBC doing Dr Who without a female companion.
On the subject of Capaldi, I am completely sold. Two episodes in, and he is already my favourite of the newer Doctors, making him my third fav doctor, just ahead of Jon Pertwee and behind Colin (not Tom) Baker and Sylvester McCoy.
Thanks for the info, CriticAndProud! Definitely saw the "chemistry" between those two in the last episode!
Maybe, being the Christmas episode, Clara and new boyfriend go about their lives together. A new character could easily enter into the storyline at that point.
Yep, me too. I like the slightly darker Doctor. Harks back to how the character was in the past, particularly the Hartnell, Pertwee, Tom Baker and McCoy eras.
I've read things by people who think the Doctor is 'evil' now and don't think he is a hero anymore, but of course he's the hero. He's just not a superhero, and he was never intended to be.
Not even a tiny bit--that's not the issue. Haven't discussed it with him since the first episode or to see if this week's show has changed his mind.
I liked Saturday's episode ok but I'm still having a hard time warming up to Capaldi. He reminds me of a Charles Dickens school master. It took me a while to warm up to McCoy too though... probably somewhat because I didn't care for his companions. We watched Time and the Rani again this weekend and enjoyed it tremendously Maybe Capaldi just needs some interesting companions. Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker always had interesting companions
Has anyone watched the new show that follows Doctor Who titled Intruders? John Simm, the actor who last played The Master, stars in it so I'm wondering if its a crossover like Torchwwood.
Haven't seen the show, just promos. Might need to take a look.
I've heard tell of said programme, but of sight or sound there's been none. Dr Who's followed by some National Lottery game show guff and Casualty here.
Makes sense, McCoy was a slapstick clown at first. But later on, damn, he was good. He was very good in Remembrance of the Daleks if I recall correctly.
I like Ghost Light too I ordered the dvd of Remembrance of the Daleks last week and I'm anxious to watch it. I've been gradually replacing the old vhs recordings I taped off our pbs channel.
This week was fabulous. The promo had me thinking "Dr. Who meets Dexter". But the show was more like "Dr. Who meets Dr. Sleep".
Have to agree. Think it was the best this season. Deep in many ways, and a ton of info mixed into the storyline.
Just watched "Listen". Lots of stuff to process now. Lots.
Do not read the spoiler unless you have seen the episode LISTEN
Recap: Doctor Who - Listen
I agree. Hadn't been that impressed with the others so far but liked this one.
