Have you ever mixed up dreams with reality? Sounds very strange, I know...

Last night I woke up in the middle of the night, it was about 4:30 a.m. I remember that well because I looked on the clock. What was strange was that I woke up from the noise of my TV, it somehow turn on. I opened my eyes thinking that I might leave my remote control somewhere near the bed and touched it in my sleep. But I could not find the remote control anywhere. It was on the table, I stood up and turned the TV off. After that I went to the kitchen, drank some water... So, I was really awake. But how could the TV turn on by itself? Well... I guess it was not turned on, it was just in my dream, but me, finding the remote control and everything was real.

Completely stupid! I think I might need some rest... maybe, I have just overworked. Or I am going crazy...

Absolutely, this happens to me fairly regularly. I think (for me) it stems from having irregular sleeping patterns. I doubt that I sleep enough and my mind is probably just struggling through the soup to find which way is up.
(My youngest child who is 5 now, has had a terrible sleeping record since he was born, he's only managed to sleep through the night in the last year, before that I could be up to him perhaps three times a night, so I think this has helped to establish bad sleeping habits for me.)

Yeah...this one particular dream...and I'm still not sure it is/was not real...disturbing as all get-out...don't even want to say what it was about.

And even years after being in the navy, I still have the occasional dream/nightmare that I've gone back, I've four years ahead of me and I'm wondering what I've done. For whatever reason these dreams are more graphic than others...or maybe it's simply that they are so close to the surface...and disturbing...they cause one to wake?

Oh creepy -"They're here!"

Sometimes the husband will leave the remote in the bed and one of us will roll over on it and turn the TV on. Did you do that?

No, I could not do it. It was on the table! I took it only when I stood up... That's the problem :)
LOL - as clearly stated in the original post. That was pre-coffee, I don't always retain what I read until I hit my target heartrate.

So, then I'm gonna go with my original answer: They're Here! (but if you're younger than me, you might not know that scary line from Poltergeist).

That is very strange. You sound like you do need a break - perhaps working too much? Maybe you need a "mental health" day just for yourself to relax and catch up on some "me time".
I hope you manage to take a bit of time off, if possible.
Or maybe it was like that movie "Poltergeist"? Maybe your TV is haunted! (Hey - what did you expect, right? This IS the SKMB after all!) :tongue-new:
Good luck Lina - hope that TV doesn't turn itself on again!:dunno:

The same thing happened to me when I went to bed after reading Cell.

Somewhat of a side bar, but I hate it when I groggily wake up from a deep sleep to see my dog sitting on the end of the bed staring intently out into the hallway that runs the length of our house. Usually my dog does her best impression of a canine paperweight as far as guard dog duties. On these thankfully rare occasions her ears will be perked up like radar dishes. It scares the hell out of me, because I'm not 100% alert in that state and my kid's room is up the hall from our room so if someone did break into our house they would reach his room before reaching ours. My dog will quickly look at me, then look back into the hallway, then gets this look on her face that says "You gonna check that out or what dude?" I always end up clearing the house with my Glock to no avail. Nothing out of order, all doors and windows secured. I wonder what animals see or hear sometimes. I never get onto her for doing this because it's the one time I don't pay attention to her that it will be real. My worst nightmare is being surprised by an intruder while sleeping.

...just borrow my Brother Ghost's Glock...very reliable and accurate when slaying popcorn kitties and building size bloodsuckers...or you could borrow mine AND my 1911-then nothing would ever threaten you again...leastways anything with a lick o'sense....

Last night I dreamt that I was at some kind of SKMB convention. The details are blurry but I know that Neesy, Lepplady, n_n, and a tall blonde member were there. No, it wasn't that kind of dream.

I'd forgotten about this thread.

I don't usually remember my dreams, but the other night (morning, actually), I woke up and was moving around. Grandma came home early (sometimes her shift starts at 6 am), and she was grouchy, and I asked if anything was wrong, and I can't remember the answer she gave, because....

I woke up from that. Well, it's not the first time I've dreamed that I woke up, but I still don't like it. So I got out of bed, was phutzing around, and Grandma came home early. She was in a pretty good mood, and I asked her if anything was wrong, and I can't remember the answer she gave, because....

I woke up from that. This was getting a little unpleasant, and I was rattled, because it was pretty disorienting. I started to get out of bed, and Grandma came through the door early....

And this time I wrenched myself awake, like you might do (I do sometimes, anyway) when dreams are just so unreal and unpleasant or unsettling that you know you're in one and have to get out of it. And this time I really was awake. I had the sensation of the covers and just all the sights, smells, sounds, and feel of real life.

Did.Not.Like the experience. I can't remember ever dreaming to that many levels before, ever.

I think I've never heard of such a dream except in a movie or book.

As Dave Barry would say, "which I swear I am not making up." But maybe I should just stay quiet about it. I posted it on my Facebook soon after waking up, and I don't think my friends quite believed it.

I've dreamed that I've died, dreamed that I've woke up, dreamed that I could fly, dreamed of environments that were inchoate and unsubstantial. But this one was a new one and quite unsettling. I don't even know how the dream brain would work like this.

I believe you. It must've been very scary.
