I may have mentioned this previously, but I had a recurring dream when I was about five.

I wake up in my bed next to an evil version of me, and he spends the whole dream trying to kill me in my room. I beg him to stop, but he says he's going to get rid of me in some of the meanest ways he can, if I just let him. Some of the threats he makes, the things he says are words I don't remember even knowing as a five year old boy. A pile of wooden chairs materialize at the foot of the bed, and I mange to throw him under them. Under the pile, back to he wall, he smacks his lips and bursts into flames, calling for help in my voice. The chairs catch the comforter on the bed, which catch the drapes, and we scream for each other as the room goes up. When his screams, which are my screams, turn wet, I know I'm alone.

Then I wake up. When this dream stopped altogether later that year, I remember thinking I was scared of two things: burning and being alone with myself.

Yikes, that was one of a hell bad dream D:

I think I was more affected by those dreams when I was little. I remember them clear as day now, and I just shake my head. Whatever I was going through at that age to produce those images must have been intense haha. Have no idea what, though.

Strange. You should write the whole dreams down as first you remembered.

I had two bad dreams in a row last night/this morning.
Both involved accidents and yelling for 911 in the dream.

First one, I was riding my motorcycle -haven't had that in years.. and someone clipped my mirror off. I chased him into woods and he was not hearing me, but carrying a big club and scary.

Second, driving - both my nieces wanted to sit in the trunk? Let them. Rear-ended. Saw one was ok, and just the sneakers and legs of the other.

I ate pork before bed.

Think muskrat was right about that pork before bed.

I dreamed danie called me to help her friend remove five corpses from his flooded pizzeria. It was night time and we had to descend these old wooden stairs in a steep brick building, down into the black water of the cellar. Some of the bloated corpses were cramped inside wine barrels. The pale flesh looked like butchershop hogs. I distinctly remember five corpses. I think we got them all onto a flatbed truck, don't recall. This dream slipped seamlessly into another where I received two 500 dollar checks in the mail. Now that I think of it...alot of 5s.

That is so weird, because I dreamed that a friend of mine wanted me to help him remove five pizzas from his flooded corpses.
Each of the pizzas had five toppings and cost $5 each. And I called you at 555-555-5555 to get your help. Coincidence? I think not.

:) And if I didn't make it to you in less than 30 minutes? Do you call Domino's?

The other night I had a dream that was a "first" for me. I was crying in my dream and actually woke up crying. I've started crying after waking from a bad dream before, but never was actually crying as I woke up. :(

That's happened to me many times over the years but usually I know only because my pillow is wet. A lingering sadness but not sure what caused it. It happens to me coming out of anesthesia, too, which is really embarrassing. LOL.

This morning, I woke up from a dream where I'd been shot in the neck. I was not quite myself, though. I was Hispanic, tattoos and shaved head, but I was me. I was in a room with four other "brothers" and we all had guns pointed out different windows. Loud gunfire. I felt a pain and touched my neck. My fingertips came away with red stickiness. I felt weak and tried to find out who shot me and someone was helping lower me to the ground. I sensed people around me, caring people, threats of gunfire outside, alarming voices. I stared at the ceiling and it was morning but I couldn't make eye contact with anyone. A comforting yet troubled voice kept saying, "Just try to breathe, man, just try to breathe." I felt like I was lighter than my body, fading, and then I woke up.

The rest of my day that phrase rang in my mind like a mantra, "just try to breathe".

I tend to think of my dreams as largely symbolic, and it's up to me to figure out the symbolism, which can be tough. Because maybe the references in the dream are a straight-line symbol, or maybe they're a linguistic coincidence, or some nearly-random substitution.

One of my dreams, I was floating in space, looking toward the sun. Sparkly things were coming out, and I was trying to catch them, and sometimes I did. Then as I looked down toward the sun again, its gravity pulled me in, and I was burning in terrible pain, feeling the skin scorch off me, and then I woke up, trying not to scream.

I knew what that was. We were having external issues at the time, and if I couldn't get a handle on them, they would consume me. But knowing what the dream meant didn't help me actually address the issues. Just awakened my inner terror about what was going on. Gosh, thank you, subconscious.

Another time, I was in a bar, drinking beer, shooting pool, and two guys come in, assault one of the pool players, turning him upside down, shaking out his pockets. Well, that wasn't tough either. I was in a business relationship at the time that I felt was inequitable, with me being on the side of inequity. I was the man being turned upside down. The two guys were my business partners.

Sometimes it's not nearly so obvious, and other times it's such a wild, random, free-ranging ride that I really don't have much hope of unwinding it all, and i have to figure maybe it is just random creative stuff running through my brain.

I get confused at the vividness, though. I can see where our subconscious will construct some mental iconography for what's going on in our lives. But why with such detail, leaves on the trees, buildings in full detail, cars of different models going by, features in faces of people that I never remember seeing before, and so on? If my brain is just trying to paint a picture for me, why does it get down to nearly molecular background clarity?

it's a rhetorical question. I'm not figuring that part out.

I mostly believe in the symbolism theory. But now and then... I've had a few prophetic dreams but it's not a common occurrence. Most symbolism is personal but some -- like falling or losing teeth -- seem to be part of our lizard brain.

Doc Creed I'm not sure if you know about OBE -- out of body experience -- but your dream sounds like it could be a candidate for that, to me. Look into it, read about it and see how you feel about that idea.

Dreams are rarely translated well in the telling but, for my own satisfaction, I had to try to update what I'd previously written. I doubt much is illuminated but indulge me. Thanks.

UPDATED:

This morning, I woke up from a dream where I'd been shot in the neck. I was not quite myself, though. I was Hispanic and had tattoos and shaved head, but I was me. I was in a bare room with four other "brothers" and we all had guns pointed out different windows. Loud gunfire. I felt a pain and I touched my neck. My fingertips came away red and warm. I felt weak, like an invisible thread was loosened and unraveling from my core, and I tried to speak as someone lowered me to the ground. I sensed people around me, caring people, threats of gunfire outside, voices rising in alarm. I stared at the ceiling and it was coated in peach light and I couldn't make eye contact with anyone, but knew that ceiling was the last thing on earth I'd ever see. A comforting yet troubled voice kept saying, "Just try to breathe, man, just try to breathe." I felt like I was lighter than my body, fading, my will to move no longer having discourse with my feet, and then I woke up.

The rest of my day that phrase kept returning to my mind, "just try to breathe".

I had a dream recently where I saw a biographal musical, similar to the ever-popular Hamilton, about Joseph Stalin. That’s all I remember, there was a song about Gulags I do remember. I don’t know what part of my subconscious came up with this, but it did.

Really vivid dreams lately. Nonsensical (well, they almost all are) but very vivid.

Had one a few nights ago where it was so ugly and unreal that my self-consciousness kicked in, said, "It's just a dream, so wake up!" and I did. Grandma envies me for that.

Somebody said that if you dream about someone who's no longer in your life, then it means they're thinking about you. I have dreams about guys I went out with years ago. My family is German. Two of my exes were Dutch. Most of the others were from Slavic countries. One was a lawyer, one was an engineer and another played in the NHL. The others had unremarkable jobs. They seem to pop up randomly in dreams in no particular order. I have no idea what God is trying to tell me. I'm just trying to do well in my career at this point in my life. I will probably start an online diploma in the fall. It's pretty obvious that I will never have a happy ending like Meghan and Harry.
