Here, there and everywhere.
Wow - I've never seen that, DJ. So sad.

Whenever I post something about Earth Day on Facebook, my conservative friends (well, my conservative fringe friends) make comments about the founder composting his girlfriend, etc. Whatever. I just don't understand political extremists, on both sides of the fence - no matter how smart they are (and some are brilliant), their brains are unable/unwilling to use common sense or concede a smidgen of a point for fear of losing an argument.

Who did what to whom? I've never heard that bit of news before. :icon_eek:

Earth Day is generally celebrated here by getting offline, lights off... turn off the juice where you can basically.

Great song DJ, gets me every time.

Ah, Earth Day. I was in high school for the first one. I had an eco flag on the arm of my biking jacket and a little sticker of the Statue of Liberty with a gas mask on the fork of my bike.

The eco flag:

My first and last political march was for Earth Day, I believe the next year.

As I grew and matured (ever so slightly), I came to understand that advocates for a side I liked could lie as facilely as their counterparts. I calmed from being a firebrand environmentalist to a guy who just believes that we need to do the best we can with our stewardship of the planet, act like it's the only planet that we've got to live on, and treat it as conservatively and carefully as possible to preserve and protect it. If we want it to be a nice place for our descendants, conservation is more prudent than exploitation.
