After reading so many mistakes in my posts -- past the edit period, of course -- I think it's time the SKMB pull an IMDB and just allow the edit function to remain for a period of an 8 on its side.

Who's with me?

I think there was a time there was no Edit feature, then it was there and may've been indefinitely, then it was for 30 minutes, and finally now ten minutes. If it had been indefinite at first or if they've tried it that way and found the need to limit editing they must have had good reason to change it. I've always assumed the reason was me.

The 10 minute editing window is there to aid the moderating team. When people (not just you, Frank :) ) go back and edit their messages after we have checked them, it puts the message back into the checking system, so having a smaller window means we can clear queues more quickly.

The decision had been made some time ago to have a time-limit specifically because people were changing what they had posted after their moderated posts had been approved. (This was back when everybody was moderated, all of the time.)
The system we have now, aids us in the best way possible. We are always happy to make an edit for people if necessary.

I've always been one to check and recheck, then to check and recheck. Knowing I have a time limit helps me limit myself to being careful in the first place, and being willing to settle for less than perfect, if required.

I doubt extended edit times will be granted unless extraordinary forces mandate it.

Therefore I suggest a peaceful protest on the matter.

My suggestion is everybody post in the worstest english immanigable and chocked full with bunches of speling errors until you gets whats you want.

Yeah, that one.

Well, at least it will be a PEACEFUL protest. For heavens sake don't try to impose spoilers on anyone. That chit will get you in all kinds of trouble and snark. :disgust:

Nice To Have You Back On The Board.

Ms. Mod. I don't know how you do it. I think I'm pretty laid back and cut people some slack but if I get poked in the eye with a sharp stick often enough I tend to get cranky.

HUGS.

Spoiler for no reason.
Another spoiler for no reason.
Another useless spoiler.
I want to break a record here.
