This question might have been asked before, but I couldn't find it.

How come there is a time limit on editing posts? I just hate it when I find out I've made a spelling error, and it bugs me that it will be there, for all eternity!

Because it gives the moderators the chance to read a post and make sure nothing has been slipped in that isn't appropriate. If it could be edited at any time, we might not see it as it wouldn't show up as a new post for us once we've read it. Moderators are able to edit posts, so if you let us know what you want fixed, we can do it for you.

OK. Gotcha! I'm not gonna pester the mods with my stupid spelling errors. I'll try to be even more careful behind the keyboard!
