Hi all. (cont if you have read beyond Z January 2016's part 18)I'm reading this currently and i'm at the part where Hodges decides to check his stomach symptoms on the net. When he opens his computer he sees a red 1 over Debbie's Blue Umbrella app icon. My question is that after opening the app, he logs in. If he wasn't logged in how could the computer show him 1 new message?

I'm so confused. I thought Hodges was at least 60. Then why, on p. 288, does it say he was a senior (presumably in high school) in 1999? Am I missing something?

Never mind. I screwed up. It's Brady he's talking about, not Hodges. Pretend I was never here.
Okay Donna - Welcome to the SKMB anyway!

i was wondering if there were any threads around regarding mistakes in novels. not as criticism, but more as pointing out for curiosities sake. this is the only one i've seen though. do others exist?
They're usually within the posts for the novel they're related to. That said, those sorts of criticisms aren't always received well depending on the tone they're presented in.

i haven't seen any. i definitely wasn't thinking of a disrespectful type thing either. just sort of a movie mistakes factual type thing. like as an example, there's a character in needful things who's religion seems to morph depending on when she shows up (if you've read the novel you'll know the reason why her religion might be a focus). i guess the reason i haven't seen any is most don't feel like rocking the boat. well, maybe i'll run across one in my wanderings

The problem comes up most often when someone has joined the Message Board for no other reason than to point out a mistake in a way that doesn't come across as constructive criticism or as you've described, in a "blooper" kind of context.

Or like Tara, to criticize the SKMB itself - a sort of one-hit wonder who makes a few comments then disappears
