Usually when writers are mentioned, almost always the males of the species hog the limelight. Therefore, who are your all-time favorite female writers? Mine are:
Mary Shelley, Anne Sexton, Anne Morrow Lindbergh and Flannery O'Connor.
Margaret Atwood
Diana Gabaldon
Anne Tyler
Alice Munro
Miriam Toews

oh yes - I almost forgot Daphne du Maurier - I loved her book Frenchman's Creek

I Totally forgot about one great author. Selma Lagerlöf. Nobel prize winner 1909 and still a great read. (It is true i think that sweden has won one or two prizes the winners did not deserve because he happened to be a swede but she is not one of them). One of Swedens, in my opinion, few world class authors. Written many types of books, long epics, she was good at ghost stories that she often incorporated in her novels. She has written a youth travel story about a young man traveling on a goose back through sweden. She certainly has past the test of time.

Oh wow! I read that book as a child and loved it. Nils on the back of a goose...lovely, lovely memories. Thanks for bringing that back.
