Another bit of advice is to replace the first aid kits in your car more often than you would one in your house. The heat in the car makes things (like band aids) go bad much quicker than in your home.

Holy crap - some of you are just freaking amazing with your organized selves! I do have Benedryl in the house, but we all get itchy eyes, so we can't live without it. My first aid kit: mother's spit, a bandana, and a hug. That'll fix anything old thing.

I was going to point out, make sure you replace things regularly, even tape, especially in the car, but even in the house, when it gets old it does not work properly.
