Greetings all. One of my most cherished memories was when I was about 14 and I met Mr. King at a book signing shortly after Misery came out. My favorite author, my favorite book. I met a buddy of mine a few weeks back, and he is crazy about Mr. King as well. Has a big collection of Mr. King's books, films, promo items - everything. Lots of signed first editions. Although I only own one signed first edition which I watched the great man sign himself, I saw that most of the signatures in my friend's collection have a line through the 7 when dated. Mine does not. I spent the past couple of days studying this. Haven't found too many other examples. Anybody else ever seen this?

Maybe he did not use the line through the 7 at first? (at the time your book was signed?) I mean - you saw him sign it and unless it was a body double (haha just kidding) then you know it's a real signature.

Interesting question - Welcome to the SKMB Tom

Thanks folks! As I recall, he did kind of sign the book almost upside down, and very quickly. Just wish I'd taken a bit better care of it. The dust jacket's seen much better days, been around the world a few times! ;) You never know the real comfort of a good book until it's all you've got to comfort you... Bless you all.
