4 times that I can remember. We hit a deer while driving at night through Ohio, twice when our son was young and had trouble breathing due to allergies and once when he ran into a corner that was reinforced with metal and got a large cut over his eye. Help came right away, no issues.

I never have, but my husband used to call pretty regularly on the neighbors across the street. Lots of drugs and lots of fighting. They are gone now, thank goodness.

And he called that time he was jogging and found that girl lying along the road with the shoelace tied around her neck.

:O_O:

Dude! Watch the rug! Gonna spill!

I'll be careful......

"911" is a scourge for many businesses. Often you need to press a “9” to get an outside line, then a “1” for a long distance call. Forget that you already hit the “1” and press it again and the police show up. It doesn’t matter if you hang up after realizing what you did, because the 911 center traces the call and sends the police. I had a woman who worked for me that was notorious for doing this once or twice every week. It got to the point where the police would show up, see the look on my face and said...Kim again?... well, here's another $100 bill for your troubles.

It turned out to be attempted suicide. He didn't know that at the time though. She was still conscious and wouldn't let him try to loosen the string. He used her phone to call 911, it was lying next to her and he didn't have his with him. Stayed with her until the ambulance and police got there and then answered their questions. Pretty scary experience.

I'll say it was scary. Did you guys ever hear how she made out?

My son did, when he was four or five. Just punched in the numbers to see what would happen. He didn't talk to anyone, just pushed those three numbers, and sure enough, they came. I had to explain what happened. The burr-headed Gestapo just looked at me like I was lying, and tried nosing around. Finally they left. I told my son that the next time he 'cried wolf' the cops would take him to jail.

Did you give the coppers some shrooms for their trouble?

Scott did call to check a couple days later. They couldn't really tell him much, with privacy laws. She made it and was asking the cops for Scott's name at the hospital but they wouldn't give it to her. He did also hear from a co-worker (without giving him her name or anything) who is on the fire department as well that it was her 4th attempt. They knew her at the hospital. :apologetic:

The woods are lovely dark and deep
Twice.

Once for me. Once for my mom.

Actually, my mom called for me. I was home alone with my almost 4 year old and my newborn baby. I started going completely numb, starting with my face.

Things were okay.

The Mom one, things weren't okay. She had cancer that had spread throughout her body and she broke her hip. She couldn't move. This is when the family found out about the cancer. She had known for a very long time.

I almost called a few weeks ago. I got a new neighbor lady, she has turned out to be quite the character. She lives right next door and does weird stuff and bangs on the wall for no apparent reason at all hours. It's not super loud, but it's annoying. I've let it pass. It sounds like she's rocking in a rocking chair and it's hitting the wall or something. I dunno.
But one night I was in the living room watching TV, it was about 11:00 and I hear yelling. They were getting pretty loud over there, but I ignored it. I thought they were partying. Then there were loud bangs on my wall. It sounded like someone was throwing her against it. I hear her screaming at someone to, please stop, leave, get out of here, and then I heard her say, please don't rape me.
My blood ran cold and my adrenaline level went from 0 to 100 in about a second. I grabbed my self defense system, which is a big rock that fits perfectly in my fist and banged on her door. Then I hear her say, just a minute, very sheepishly. She opens the door, she is naked as the day she was born, except for a little towel she was kind of covering herself with.
I asked her if she was okay, she said, oh yeah, my boyfriend and I are just messing around. Then I smell gin on her (I hate gin). She was smiling like a dufus and said she was sorry if she was bothering me.
I was gob smacked. Then I got mad. I wanted to hit her with my self defense system, but I didn't. I told her if they didn't cut it out I was going to call the cops. Just then the cops showed up. One of my neighbors had already called.
It turns out my little friend Laurie, (the elderly lady who watches my cats when I'm away) who lives on the other side of her said she bangs on her side of the wall too.
She has named her Thumper. ;-D
