Since we have the post "Explain your user name" I thought this would be a good companion thread.

My current avatar is from the classic stop motion film Mad Monster Party. It's one of my favorites from childhood. I love any kind of movie, cartoon or TV show that uses the classic horror movie monsters in amusing, funny or odd ways; such as Milton the Monster, The Groovy Goolies and The Munsters, to name a few.

This thread should keep Out of Order way busy. My avatar is from the band Pozo Seco's Shade of Time album cover. The album is a personal favorite of a friend. When the Board changed software platforms I had to choose a new avatar. I don't remember what prompted me to select the one I did. Maybe I stumbled upon it while surfing. I'm in the process now of finding out again who the photographer is.

I actually just changed mine! My current avatar is my cat Milo and me. He got really sick a few days ago and there for a while it didn't look like he was going to make it. Took him to a vet yesterday and he got a few shots and is doing much much better! I'm definitely an animal lover and Milo is my pride and joy. Haha. So my avatar is a celebration of his recovery. :)

Aw!

I seriously don't understand how some people can hate cats. But I don't really care for dogs, so... *shrug* ;)

I don't hate them, but I could explain why some do, but I don't want to take away the magic.

To explain my avatar is a little self-aggrandizing. The web designer for my blog came up with it. I like it, and it fits "Grandpa." So I use it. But I don't wear glasses, or at least I wear them very rarely, I haven't worn a bow tie since grade school, and although at my age I am cursed to be a bit jowly, my beard is too thin for the five-o'clock shadow in the avatar. But the avatar guy does look to be white, and I'm mostly white. So other than just about everything, it looks just like me.

The Munsters is one of my favorite memories from childhood. My kids like it, too :)

The last time I took her into the vet, she was seen by a one that isn't her regular vet and he told me that female long-haired orange Tabby's are rare. Anyone want to buy a rare cat? JUST KIDDING!!!!!! I'm not going to tell her tho, she's got enough attitude as it is, she doesn't need to be strutting around my house, giving me that look that says 'Yea, that's right! I'm RARE! And you better treat me the way I deserve to be treated!'

I don't know about you but I've never heard of anyone being attacked by a pack of wild cats or having their face, fingers, etc. bit off by a cat. I just don't trust dogs......

I had a friend who was bit by a cat, his hand swelled up like a balloon, and he had some drastic treatment on it. That was four years ago, and he's never gotten full strength back in his hand. I told the story to a doc friend of mine, and he said, "Cat bites are incredibly toxic. Someone comes to me with a cat bite, and I just order an antibiotic IV immediately." So it doesn't take a pack. I don't say this to be contrary. It's a public service announcement. Get those cat bites looked at immediately.

Mom's cat used to bite her sometimes when mom petted her. The cat didn't mean it in an aggressive way; just some cats demand attention that way. Anyhow, one of the bites became infected enough to require a trip to the emergency room. It wasn't a severe infection, but to assume a cat bite might be cleaner for some reason than other puncture wounds would be to make an ass out of u and me.

My niece has been bitten by one of her cats a couple of times. Yes, they are very, very dangerous bites and have to be looked at immediatly. That cat has serious mental issues and she is the only person that it tolerates. I've never had a cat bite me. Hope I never do.
