I was kidding, but the mental picture was pretty funny to me. :m_oops: Though, if you wanna give me a shout-out the next time he's here in Texas, I'd go buy whatever they're promoting just to get to meet him! I'd love you forever! :m_loveu:
We're just starting the process but won't be making any final decisions or announcements for a couple months.

Oh I looked, I am very active on ebay and sell alot. What this guy is doing is criminal. I reported all his fake items.
There really should be something more that can be done than just simply reporting this scumbag.

There they are like clockwork. Now he has two listed under booksandcomicsandthings for one day auction. From A Buick 8 and Dolores Claiborne.

Well lets hope Ms. Mod can get thru to someone because this POS needs to be stopped. I believe every single signed item they are selling is a complete fake, I doubt they limit their deception to just King books. At the very least these people should be exposed on as many SK forums at possible to warn potential buyers of this, the Dark tower page has a lot of people on it and a lot of serious collectors, I would also make a post there about all of this.

I recently purchased some books from booksandcomicsandthings on ebay and had the signatures authenticated by rareandsigned.com. All of them came back as fake. Raresigned replied: "Andrew. These are all fake. We saw them on eBay ourselves and reported the seller"

If you are going to buy on ebay, ask someone to authenticate it. A quick yes/no is free and all you have to do is send them an email with a picture. My whole experience with buying a signed SK book really turned me off. I stopped looking for signed books and I'm just going to enjoy reading the books. That's what I like about SK books anyways, the stories.

Hope this helps and hope you all can learn from my mistake.

Here are the pictures. All of these are, according to Raresigned, fake. :-( View attachment 18696 View attachment 18697 View attachment 18698 View attachment 18699
I'm not totally convinced these weren't authentic. TGWLTG is a bit questionable but I pulled a few books from my shelf and here's a couple examples that I might have said weren't authentic if I just saw the signatures but know for a fact, they are.

So I decided to message the seller about the signed DC. Here is my question and response.

Me:
When was this book signed and do you have any proof that the signature is authentic?

Seller (comicsandbooksandthings):
Hello, I would imagine sometime in the 90's. Do I have proof of signature? No I do not! I was not there to witness the signing! I just try to compare it to other signed books of his. You can also get a quick opinion at PSA if you like! They should be able to resolve any conflicting issues. thanks, Bryan.

No offense, but the one missing the "p" from his first name would be extremely questionable.

That's his first canned response. He gets more and more hostile if you press him. NOBODY gets their hands on that many SK signed books to be able to list 10 a week. He sells half of them for 50 - 60 bucks. An authentic signature is worth between 100 - 150. What is he getting them for 10? Same titles over and over and over again. He signs them himself. I bought one from him 3 years ago dated 1992. I touched the signature and it smudged. Wet ink after 22 years?

I would think so, too, as I'd mentioned but I know for a fact they're genuine as I've worked for him for over 28 years now and those were signed either right in front of me or he signed them in his office and then handed them to me. :smile2: The last few he's signed for me have been personalized and then signed just as Steve which is why I didn't bother scanning any of those. If my kids try to sell any of them after I die, they may have trouble convincing someone they're genuine unless the buyers know/believe the provenance.

I would be curious what Rareandsigned or PSA have to say about your copies. Would be really funny if either of them get it wrong.

The only signed copies I have, aside from the one I got at the End of Watch tour, I got from Betts. I have no reason to doubt the authenticity with any of his items. The only stuff I would get on eBay are the numbered editions from CD or Sub Press, etc. Pretty hard to falsify those I would think.

The guys a fraud, plain and simple. I was also going to point out the fact that how cheap they are selling and his quantity. Just does not add up. It is quite unfortunate that there are plenty of scammers out there in all mediums of collecting. But I think we (SK fans and collectors) of course take this more to heart. I hate to see a fan spending their hard earned money on something that is obviously fake. Not everyone is as internet savvy as some and maybe just a bit to trusting. It is up to the buyer to commit and do the research before such a purchase, as there are several reputable places to guarantee you are getting the real deal. But this particular person seems to be making quite a comfortable profit from counterfeiting signatures and ripping people off. I hope he gets shut down in some way.

Yes I have noticed the same titles over and over, alot of those like Buick 8 and DC, were most likely picked up on clearance at the local Barnes n Noble, for like $4-8 each.

I sent him another message, asking him for more background on how he obtain this book and how he gets so many signed SK books. I also ask him for other titles that he does not have listings for. Most scammers cant resist saying yes to almost anything because they can just make one and give you some BS about how they haven't listed it yet or let me look and I will get back to you, and then miraculously finding exactly what you are looking for, and for a great deal as well. I will post his response if I get one.

The first one was signed to you on HIS birthday! - that's kind of interesting (9/21/98)

Best type up a list of the signed books and have Steve sign it as "all the above" are authentic signatures. ;):smile2:
