This one deserves more than simply clicking the "like" button.

I think everyone learns the first part sooner or later, and if they don't, then they've learned something that's even worse (whether they know it or not).

It's that second part that seems to trip people up.

There are probably better examples than South Park (or maybe not), but I like the episode where Butters gets his heart broken by a Raisins waitress (don't we all?) and when Stan finds him crying on the sidewalk (in the rain, of course), Butters explains that it's okay, because at least he knows now what it feels like to have something so valuable -- however briefly -- that it can hurt so much it will feel like slow death when it's gone.

Or something like that.
