Here, there and everywhere.
Yes, the daytime parades in the suburbs are more of a family atmosphere. I grew up in the suburbs of New Orleans, and some of my favorite childhood memories are of those parades. On Mardi Gras day, we'd wake up before dawn, put on our costumes, and head to the city. My dad would pack the Beetle with donuts and ice chests, and we'd be so excited to get downtown and wait for the parades. Because the Tuesday parades were in the city, the buildings blocked out the sun and made it very cold and windy. If Mardi Gras had a scent, it would be the mixture of diesel, cold wind, city pavement, and American beer.

I have cancer (currently in remission). If you don't joke about it at times, it will consume you and drive you crazy.

...as I look at myself in the mirror, I realize Fat Tuesday will be followed by Wide-Load Wednesday, Thick-Thighed Thursday, Fat-azz Friday, Super-Sized Saturday, Soft & Doughy Sunday and Marshmallow Monday.....
:biggrin-new: Yes, yes, yes! These are my days too. My favorite is Fat-azz, no cook Friday - especially during Lent. Tuna fish every Friday!

Stay in remission, Dio! Healing vibes!

Too bad there isn't a book by Sai King set down here in the Big E. We could totally have a King Kon down here. Graveyard tours, Carriage rides, jazz everywhere, streetcars, the haunted FQ tours, beignets, the works.

Hmmm, maybe we should just hold the next King Kon there anyway, and gather some stories ideas for Sai King! You know, research! ;;D
P.S. Glad you had fun at your parades!=D

Good Ash Wednesday morning.

Someone at work is going to get two potato and sausage tacos this morning. I made them this morning before I thought. No sausage for me. Two potato tacos for me. With tea. Gave up coffee for Lent.

Have a great day.
Those sound yummy!
I gave up Cream of Wheat. Unusual, I know. But I wanted to give up something I usually eat every day, enjoy, and will miss, keeping me aware of why I'm doing it in the first place. Besides, the mush doesn't do much for me nutritionally anyway.

I like mushy stuff like that. All of the above. But, for some reason, oatmeal spikes my blood sugar. Even plain. And grits... sometimes I can do 'em, sometimes not. It depends on how the stomach feels that day. Since the gastric bypass, it's moody.
Now I'm doing higher protein foods for breakfast. Bars, shakes, yogurt. Stuff like that. I do miss my mush.
