Captain Jack
I remember the first time hearing Billy Joel. I was in my friend Mike’s car on the way to a little movie theater in nearby town (located only about 3 miles from Allentown LOL), going to a concert for a performer I’d never heard of – Billy Joel. Mike, one of the coolest guys I’d ever known, played his Billy Joel album on 8-Track for me, and I knew it was going to be a great performance after hearing Captain Jack.
I saw so many up and coming artists in concert at that place ("Concert Tuesdays") that went on to the big time. Didn't hear of many of them before going and didn't care. Just knew most were going to be famous one day.
Less than three years later I was carrying Mike’s casket after he lost his life in service to his country. Mike will forever be Captain Jack in my memory.
