I thought about posting this in the Classic TV Characters thread, but I guess it fits here just as well:
Does anybody remember Z-12?
When I was a kid -- let's say this is sometime just this side of 1970 -- there used to be this ad, or perhaps it was a PSA, where this robot came out into a sterile environment and placed what looked like a briefcase with a screen on it (but would look like a laptop now) down on a table, and moved out of the frame.
On the screen there is the face of a man who goes on to explain . . . something.
I don't remember.
After a while he is finished with his announcement (or whatever it was) and he begins calling for Z-12 . . . which I assume is the robot who dropped him off at the beginning.
"I need you, Z-12! I have things to do! Z-12? Where are you?"
I guess if you've ever been hit over the head with a hammer you get the "subtle" point of the message, which leads me to believe that it might have been a PSA for the Presidents Council on Physical Fitness (very big in the '70s).
Does this ring a bell with anyone besides me?
