Wax on wax off- gotta be Ralph maccionne...AKA karate Kid AKA...guitar god! even steve Via cant keep up with him

:blues:

Just to maintain the record, that's not Ralph Mascarpone playing. Both parts are Steve Viagra.
Wry Cooter played the slide gitt-ar parts earlier in the movie "Crossroads."

Anyway, you folkses's lists have some quality (and some just quantity), but you are missing some other Greats...and it's not my job to illuminate you entirely.

From my dad, I have a love for Jimi Hendrix, Dick Dale, Carl Perkins, and there was a band he used to love--the Ventures, I think?--no idea who the players were, but it was a soundtrack in my childhood. Music has always been a part of my life; it's the language I like best (lol)

Adult favorites:
Elmore James
B.B. King
James Hetfield & Kirk Hammett
Jeff Buckley
Prince
Tom Morello
Stevie Ray and Jimmie Vaughan
Joe Bonamassa
Glen Hansard
Whoever played the guitar on Hank Williams' version of "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry"
Jonny Lang (live, more than recorded--they tried too hard to play on his looks and make a pop star, and a lot of the recorded songs short his talent. Then he became a born again Christian. *sigh* He's an amazing guitarist live, though.)
Clapton (duh)
John Mayer

Crud. This is getting huge. So many more that I admire for different reasons and in varied styles...

Some excellent guitarists named here. But what songs have the greatest guitar riffs?

Some of my choices...

Paranoid – Black Sabbath
Smoke on the water – Deep Purple
Sunshine of your love – Cream
Sweet Home Alabama – Lynyrd Skynyrd
Satisfaction – The Rolling Stones
Sweet child of mine – Guns N’ Roses
Money for nothing – Dire Straits
You really got me – The Kinks
Day Tripper – The Beatles
Layla – Derek and the Dominos

Just about any Zep or AC/DC song would qualify for great guitar riffs. Page and Angus are two of the best riff masters around!
