....well, I try to throw caution to the winds and enjoy a new delight during the holidays...cookies....yeah, I know-I eat the damn things all the time, but THESE little morsels have holiday cheer in them!!!!....if I am stuck in a rut-then leave me beside the highway of home-bakes and journey on without me....

maybe sugar cookies. My wife made some last night and I contributed. I helped. No, really, I did.

Plus, I washed up. The dishes. I dunno how that works out, but that's the way the cards were played. We made hearts, trees, santas, bells, motorcycles, candlesticks, and eggs, that I requested and was approved. I like all the bright colors you can make, sprinkles and other stuff you can put on them. I like prune tarts, too. And tonight she's going to make stained glass windows...I'll recognize them when I see those but I'm not positive as yet. Fudge...yeah, fudge. I'll put in a chit for fudge maybe in a day or so. Plus I got a surprise in the mail yesterday...snoozing on the couch and I hear the mailbox open and shut...was a time before I looked outside and the mailman had dropped off a box. A gift from a customer I did some work for out Big Traverse...sent a gift box with some pears from Oregon, cheese, nuts. I'm trying to remember the last time a customer either sent or handed me a Christmas gift...don't believe it happened before now.

Do I have to pick just one? :D

The cookies and fudge, oh my...but what I really miss is something my Grandma always made, a German kuchen. We always called it by the German name and I have no idea how it is spelled. Oh boy is it yum-yum. I have been trying to find a recipe that sounds close, as no one seems to have it written down in the family. She passed away 7 years ago and I would really like to make some this year in her memory. And every year, keep up the tradition.

Fruit cake. I have my mom's recipes and every couple years I make up two HUGE batches. I make them in September, and if I don't give to many away they last until August. I didn't make any this year, but hubby and I have already decided I am making them next year.

I also bake cookies every year. Sugar cookies, Chocolate-cherry brownies, Ginger snaps, double Chocolate treasures, and both chocolate and white macaroons.

Those are the "must haves", and if there's time I make more.

I don't know what they are called, but Ritz crackers with peanut butter in the middle and coated with white chocolate. I literally have no self control when it comes to these and should be dealt with accordingly if I'm found in the corner hording the plate fulls during the holidays.
