So this morning I walked into work to find a nicely wrapped box from one of the local dentists that we refer to. Every year we look forward to this because it contains an assortment of whoopie pies from Wicked Whoopie which are pretty much the best things ever. Our little office gathers round to bask in its glory as it's being opened(and to also grab our favorite pie) the anticipation builds....here they come....except...what is this? A children's board game?? About the tooth fairy???? NOOOOOO

Oh gosh! I can so relate. I go to the Chinese food place in my fleece jammie pants and a sweat shirt. I do get bra'd up for the occasion. The Ogre and kids don't get dressed or leave the house.

Do you go to Midnight Mass? We do. 4pm Christmas Eve is too crowded. 10am Christmas Day is out of the question.

EXACTLY! We've grown accustomed to lounging in pajamas all day--no one even gets dressed in more than sweats!

We haven't gone to midnight mass in years, but might try this year. Nick is probably old enough to stay awake but not get grouchy (we originally stopped going when the kids outnumbered us and we couldn't handle two sleeping girls and one incredibly grumpy kindergartener on the way out of mass). We've done both the 9:30 and 11:30AM masses (when oldest was an alter server), and the 5PM Christmas Eve (when youngest was in the children's choir), but haven't decided for this year. I'm leaning toward Christmas eve, even though it's packed, if we don't go at midnight.

Once a year for my nearest and dearest people who help pay my bills (i.e., clients), I go into Blueberry Banana Break baking mode. I start early Sunday morning, by Sunday afternoon the house smells like the inside of a banana loaf, and all is right with the world.

Ingredients include flour, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, rum, eggs, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, ground hazelnut coffee, blueberries, three bananas, along with the baking soda and baking powder to make sure it rises.

Grandpa how do I get on that list? Sounds divine.

skimom2 we have a 4pm Christmas Eve mass that is crazy crowded. I can't do it. Midnight is beautiful but I'm always very tired after. It's 2am by the time we get home.

Treats: I had some kind of candied or caramel popcorn today. You know how your mouth tastes when you have a tooth drilled? It tasted just like that. Very strange.

I've never been big on sweets, would rather have the meats, in which case, give me mama's juicy baked ham. Especially the fattier parts. Love to hack off a big juicy hunk, wedge it inside a hot, buttered, homemade roll. Yes.

And the homemade Chex mix. Wash it down with some Yuletide spiked egg nog.

Good eatin.
