Heart of the South
I was singing the aforementioned Bob Seger's "Roll Me Away" in the shower and realized there's another part I really like.

She didn't have to say a thing. I knew what she was thinking: "Roll, roll me away, won't you roll me away tonight. I too am lost, I feel double-crossed, and I'm sick of what's wrong and what's right." We never even said a word. We just walked out and got on that bike. And we rolled... and we rolled clean out of sight!

Grandpa, I love this song. "She said she missed her home; I headed off alone."

This song played at the end of the movie Mask - which made me cry my eyes out. On a date, back in 1985.

Boy, if you want my heart
You gotta take it like a man
Before you fight for us
You gotta show me that you can
So when the lights go dark
I wanna know you understand
That if you want my heart
You gotta take it like a man

"Take It Like A Man" by Cher

Trust I seek and I find in you
Every day for us something new
Open mind for a different view
And nothing else matters
Never cared for what they say
Never cared for games they play
Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
And I know
(Nothing Else Matters - Metallica)

Some people go around the world for love
And they may never find what they dream of
What you won't do, you do for love

(What You Won't Do For Love - Bobby Caldwell)

Yes he really worked me over good
He was a credit to his gender
Put me through some changes Lord
Sort of like a Waring blender

Well, I went home with the waitress
The way I always do
How was I to know
She was with the Russians, too

Songs of life, they ring
From quiet steeples to distant valleys
Along the hillsides of lovers' hearts, of lovers' hearts
Come sing your songs of life
And they will keep you
From ever wanting, from ever needing
For ever more, for ever more
Oh, and when the moment's true
It sings so softly to me and you,
You know they do, you know they do
So I'll sing my songs of life
That I will hold you inside forever
And you will know me
And I'll be yours and you'll be mine

(Songs of Life - Neil Diamond)

And he took little Suzie to the Junior Prom
Excitable boy, they all said
And he raped her and killed her, then he took her home
Excitable boy, they all said
Well, he's just an excitable boy

And though the odds say improbable
What do they know
For in romance
All true love needs is a chance
And maybe with a chance you will find
You too like I
Overjoyed, over loved, over you, over you

(Overjoyed - Stevie Wonder)

May I offer something without sounding challenging? The original song was by Warren Zevon. It was pathetic and funny. One verse ended with, "I don't wanna talk about it."

--------

Anyway, just based on things happening in life at the moment:

"And there's so much time to make up everywhere you turn. Time we have wasted on the way. So much water moving underneath the bridge. Let the water come and carry us away."

Crosby, Stills, and Nash - "Wasted on the Way."

--------

"You will find other kind that has been in search of you, many lives have brought you to. Recognize, it's your life now in review. And as you stay for the play fantasy has in store for you, a glowing light will see you through. It's your day, shining day - all your dreams come true. As you glide in your stride with the wind as you fly away, give a smile from your lips and say, "I am free; yes, I'm free. Now I'm on my way."

Thanks Grandpa -

I didn't know that, but, now that you mention it, I think I this earlier in this thread (?) - but I had to post Linda's rendition because it's from the female perspective :)

I love both the songs you posted. Especially EWF. I love them!
