There's some nuance involved in this one. If you haven't ever seen LA Confidential, move along. Nothing to see here.

When Vincennes whispers the name and laughs, he knows as he's dying that he's given Dudley the key that can be Dudley's undoing. That is his "valediction." And indeed, when Dudley later asks Exley about the name, Exley has the relevation that the doomed Vincennes has hoped for.

Oh, freakin' absolutely!!!!

This is my favorite scene in my favorite movie which is about a man who falls in love with someone who doesn't exist...

Payback, with Mel Gibson, is one of my favorite movies, but I can't find a clip which doesn't contain profanity unacceptable here.=D I have a similar problem with Midnight Run, with DeNiro, another favorite; a movie wherein every other word is four letters in length, and the same one or variations of it.

Damn... I am such a girl. :sorrow:
I know - right?? That scene, and the lead-up to it with the entire town following Jamie and Aurelia's dad, cracks me up every single time...and brings on the tears, too.

I could *never* endure a public proposal. There's something about being broadcast on the Jumbotron at a sporting event or surrounded by total strangers hanging on your every last reaction and word that flips me completely out. I'd have to leave the location/room without giving an answer, it's that bad with me.

(I hope Grégory Fitoussi reads that last part. ;) )

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to deal with the public aspect of that either... but man, that scene, yar? Everybody ought to have a little of that (♥) in their lives at some point, hmm? *sigh* Told ya, I'm such a girl....

*Your last line cracked me up!

Everything Ted Danson does in Body Heat I love. This dance leads up to an important scene with the William Hurt character (I can't find a video of that)...

I really hate to break the mood here but one of my absolute favoutite scenes are the opening scene in Rio Bravo with John Wayne and Dean Martin in the leads and Angie Dickinson and Walter Brennan are in it too. A completely unprovoked murder followed by Waynes arrest of the murderer. It is played without a word being uttered but a lot of glances and camera angles making it perfectly clear what is happening. One of the best Westerns. Directed by Howard Hawks. They really know how to make a really good western back then. made in the late fifties i think.
