Two of my favorites from right after high school--lol. My first Christmas gift for The Man was the cassette of What I Am
Hm. Just from the first page, I'd say there are some here that aren't really one-hit wonders.
And a note from this page: I saw Iron Butterfly in concert circa 1971.
But curmudgeonliness aside:
Hocus Pocus by Focus
And some have voted this worst song of all time, and yes, it's ridiculous, but I rather like it: McArthur Park by Richard Harris (yes, the actor).
And finally a good rockin' song that, oh, man, I danced to many times in high school and later: I Got a Line on You, by Spirit

While some of these may have been one hit wonders here in the US, many of the groups cited have actually had long careers with many hits in other countries. Midnight Oil is one.
