thought it would be fun to mention some of my (and yours hopefully!) favorite parts from the book.

Probably my absolute favorite part was when Richie and Bill go to the old house on Neibolt street and They see IT. The part where Richie yells at IT (in werewolf form) in the Irish accented voice of Officer Nell gave me all the chills--I could hear it and see it so vividly in my head! The part after, after they got away and sat in the street crying and holding each other--again, chills! I didn't expect to have so many emotions reading this book, but that part got me teared up a bit because it hit home that these were just little kids up against such a huge, evil force. Good stuff. Anyone else care to share their favorite parts?

...this may make people think I'm some kind of pervert, but the whole "sex scene"(I hate that damn description of it)is one of my favorites, so many emotions rolled through me when I read that...and brought tears to my eyes for the love that was given and taken...

I agree, it was a very emotional scene, and also one that wasn't based on just the act of sex, but the meaning behind it, what it meant for these kids. I said before, SK reverence toward friendship is just mind blowingly amazing.

Oh golly, favorite part of IT? That's a toughie. Probably all the Derry: Interlude sections. I love all those creepy backstories of that bloody town.

I liked those parts too.
Especially The part about the Bradley Gang and the bar murder scene. Pennywise always hanging around while all this murderous mayhem was going on :unconscious:

Favourite parts of IT? Any of the scenes were the kids are just chilling in the barens, the Bradley gang back story, all of Mikes interlude back stories for that matter. I like the whole part were Bev and Ritchie are playing with the yo-yo, then they and Ben go to the cinema followed by their escape from Henry & co. The part were Ben is helping the teacher (or librarian, can't quite recall) after school in winter, followed by his encounter with the mummy stands out a bit for me. It's one of those things where I can actually feel how cold the setting is, and when I read that in bed, tucked up all nice and snug, it adds a little extra to the scene.

There are so many great parts in IT, I could just go on listing them if I don't stop here.

One of my favorites!! I live in the South so it never gets that cold but when winter does come along I am reminded of that scene. Plus Ben is my favorite character!!
...yep, yep!...I live in Ohio where it can freeze the testicles off a brass monkey-and that scene just haunts me....one of those sort of tossed off "flavorings" that still hasn't lost it's spice....

I think Pennywise did Derry a favor by taking out Patrick Hockstetter. You know he would've turned into a serial killer. Favorite scene? I just really enjoyed the history of the town. All the little tales of horror, that were weaved over the years. I think it's King's best description of a town in any of his books.
