This is my favorite used books store. To get my books, movies and music. The first picture is the upstairs elevator. Music The second is downstairs Books, audios and movies.
I also go to Goodwill and other little thrift shops, flea markets. Online I always check out craigslist, amazon and ebay.

The bookstore with the squeaky door...back behind the dark aisle...wood steps behind the squeaky door, sounds almost like an old wood screen door opening, has that closer on it that either slams it shut...or is quietly closed by a patron about to climb the steps to the adult videos. Heh! You're over in the other aisle sniffing books...squeeeek!...and then either a slam or a gentle thud. I figure the gentle thudders are...something....while the door-bangers will tell you flat out. If you catch the ole driftola. Every time I'd been in there that old door got a workout...squeeeek! every two minutes or less it seemed, footsteps trotting up the wood steps, footsteps skipping down, tra-la-la! With the latest Debbie Does Dallas or whatever. In Houghton this was, just before the Lift Bridge on Sharon? But the ole D.A. for the county had a love jones for the owner of the Backroom...I think the videos is what done it...so...things happened. Eventually, the guy was busted for something...indecent breathing on a minor...drugs...something...and they shut the place down. Then they applied for the ole downtown development grant (taxes) to gut the place and make piles...in the dumpster. I think most of the books...well I don't want to think what happened. Thing is it could have been better organized...at one time...upstairs where the feelthy videos were located, there was a room where the Oddfellows met...a closet there with the transom above the door...actual fingernail marks on the wood of the transom...as if someone or a multitude of someones spent time in the closet. A kind of White Room, my guess. There was a great used bookstore in Florida...The Book Gallery...I like finding used bookstores when we travel...some are okay, some are better than others, I look for certain writers that mean something to me...usually they do not have them. Then I look for things I want to read but have not yet.
