Seems to be a good range of ages on the SKMB so I was wondering what our musical taste was like (obviously our reading taste is impeccable or we wouldn't be here)

Personally, my favourite band was and still is Motorhead since hearing Ace of Spades way back in 1980. I know Lemmy had a rough-as-**** vocal delivery but that was all part of the reason I loved the band. As for musicianship, the sound he got out of that Rickenbacker was simply awesome!

There's my pick. What's yours?

Too many great artists for me to choose just one!

Here are a few:

Hendrix is my favorite guitar player. He was so far ahead of the curve people still haven’t caught up yet.

Favorite classic rock band is Led Zeppelin. So diverse and Jimmy Page is a riff master and studio genius!

Favorite punk band is The Ramones. Speed metal and thrash wouldn’t exist without them. My own playing has a heavy dose of Johnny Ramone in it.

Favorite hardcore band is Bad Brains. HR (when he isn’t out of his mind) is a heck of singer and Dr. Know is a monster on guitar.

Favorite band from the 80s (and very close to being my favorite of all time) is Living Colour. Corey Glover is one of the best singers ever. Vernon Reid is a monster player.

Favorite 90s band is The Toadies.

Favorite newer bands are QOTSA and Foo Fighters.

Royal Blood is my favorite current band.

I like those 'picks', swiftdog2.0
I'm really keen on QOTSA and Foos. Great musicians and always deliver the goods and Led Zeppelin were an awesome group. Them Crooked Vultures were a great combo of all three and I'd love to see them do another album.

Yes, Them Crooked Vultures were pretty rad! Especially like Scumbag Blues!

My tastes have changed with the times. Old Scottish ballads, jazzy crooners, and country music is what played in my background growing up. I used to listen to a lot of Donny Osmond and Elvis Presley when I first started to be aware of popular music and culture. I've expanded from there and listened to a lot over the years. All categories (except opera...not from dislike, but from inability to understand). Overall I prefer melody but every now and then I like to scream and jump with something dissonant.

I don`t think I need to comment. :D

Btw, AC/DC still ARE a great band. Yes, Malcolm, Phil, Cliff and Brian are not there any longer, but Angus Young is still standing, with Stevie and Chris and he didn`t say that it`s over yet. :)

Other bands I like...metal and some more metal, all possible genres and sub-genres.

Howe Gelb. Sixteen Horsepower, Woven Hand, Black Crowes, Pearl Jam, R.E.M., Lou Reed, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Calexico, Johnny Cash, those are a few of my favorites.
I grew up in the eighties so an eighties station on the radio can make me very happy too...:)
