I think it looked like an ordinary steak knife to me.

I caught that he said that, but

faking choking to death is not an easy thing to do, even when not going through withdrawal. He may have been trying to convince himself he did it to save her, or maybe said it to convince his mom that he has some redeeming quality. Or, just pointed out, "I stopped her" because even though it was his addiction, he still wants some credit for a change.
I don't think it was
that hard to fake. He said in the first ep that he always "means it" when he intends to dry out. So this isn't his first ride on the water wagon. He's been through it before. And he knows that probably the only thing that would have stopped her going to see her boyfriend was him (Nick) falling on the floor and starting to twitch.
Not to be all disgusting or anything...
When he puked, his hands were up at his face. He could have made himself barf, for effect.
Or it was a fortunate combination of the two, chance and intent.
Either way, it worked.

Having lived with and loved an addict, I stand by my previous comment. :) they will alter facts.

lieing on your back and vomiting without turning is not something a person could intentionally do. Instinct would make a person turn their head. He lay there on his back, with puke shooting up and filling his mouth.

I thought the scene was really well done, which is why I found it hard to watch. The scene afterwards was well acted as well. Nick looking like the puppy that had peed on the floor, and the sister...knowing she had been pulled back in....loving him and yet resenting him for loving him.

I dunno, he seems pretty knowledgeable, more so than most of the adults around him. Even the guidance counselor with the blood of her friend splattered all over her still has not caught on as well as he has. Maybe the story will center on 'and a child shall lead them'.

After watching promos and me talking about this being on before The Walking Dead returns, and watching the entire pilot with me, at the intro point of episode 2, hubby says, "What is Fear the Walking Dead?"

I said, "Umm, the name of the show."

I don't know if he thought the whole first episode was one giant flashback or what, but he thought we were watching WD. :facepalm_smiley: :D He said he kept expecting someone familiar to show up and was wondering what the heck? ;-D

Something was nagging at me about the last show, and I finally figured out what it is.
If the fallout shelter at the school is designed to last 50 years, why not just hang there?
And this is LA, Hollywood. Homes of the starts have fences and gates. They're safer than anybody. Are we going to see any of that?
I actually hope not. That was my main concern with the show being based in LA: that is would become about the rich and famous. I'm thoroughly ill of movies and TV shows where the only civilized humans live in LA or NYC, and everyone else is one step above a drooling hillbilly (and that's probably a slur against hillbillies).

I liked the quote from the actor who plays Nick, something like, "He's an incredibly selfish b***ard." He nailed it. Nick doesn't really care about anyone but himself. Sort of a Larry Underwood. If they can pull off his humanization, that will be interesting.

I want to see Stallone running up the street getting chased by walkers. Not so tough NOW, are you Rambo?
