I kinda liked the mom the least, even though I've seen and liked her in other things.

And, yeah. They did
shuttle the old guy downstairs in a hurry, didn't they?
...Am I the only one that thought the doctor resembled the red-headed Mythbuster?

I didn't think anything of it, except that
he 'coded' and they were in a rush to get him to surgery (or wherever they thought they could help him better than in the room).

And I thought at first that the doc was the guy form the hospital Beth was in in Atlanta!
I had to look very closely when they showed him again... and it wasn't him. Darn it.

That would have been cool tie in.

I've been looking intently for any tie in they throw in, whether it's a license plate or any little thing. An RV that looks like Dale's. They keep showing random people, like that wierd guy in the tri-corner hat (Captain Jack?) and the guy on the motorcycle. Maybe I'm looking for too much. Dunno.

Hey everyone. I don't have time today to read all of your thoughts but I skimmed the last few pages. Looks like you guys are divided!

Personally I didn't love it but like a couple of people said they are setting up time, place, and character development. Still thought it was sort of slow as we all know what happens. I do not like Nick at all. Maybe that will change. We knew it wouldn't be nearly as good as the original though. I quit watching Talking Dead because I don't want to get WD burnout. Is it possible? For me, yes. I LOVE the original show and I'll watch this again to see where it goes but I can't promise to stick with it to the bitter end.

I am such a chicken lol. I wasn't going to say this until someone else did :)

I don't care for Nick either... He's too androgenic or something for me. I don't much care if the rest of the cast gets eaten by zombies either :(

Nope, me either. They're all sort of stupid and off-putting.

I reckon the one thing that is rubbing me as a viewer - is the young cast. Im not really into the next generation thing. I cant think of any kids in TWD apart from obvious, so I'm hoping it wont be too long before the young get munched, and the adults settle in to looking for a sheriff to lead them on .

I got the feeling that this is aimed at teens--to get a bigger share of that market. AMC hasn't hit that demographic yet with their programming.

I think too many people are looking for a carbon copy of TWD - which is understandable considering the title. I went in with no expectations. I was, in fact, prepared to hate it. I can't stand it when a hugely successful movie or show shoots off a spinoff just to cash in. But I was pleasantly surprised. I like the premise, a family caught up in the very beginning of the apocalypse. And I rather like that it involves teens. That's a demographic that's largely been ignored by TWD. They have either kids or adults. But seeing all of those teens pouring out the front door of the high school in FTWD made me realize that, yeah. There would have been all these teens. And where are they? All munched up? I don't think they ALL would have fallen. Teens are resilient. Teens have been sent to war for countries for centuries. They can survive.
I don't mind being in the minority. I liked it.

I didn't like the premier. It was so boring and nothing really seemed to happen, which is bad considering the extra long run time the first episode had. The flaws of the premier are made even more obvious when you compare it to the excellent premier of its parent show. In the Walking Dead, you were immediately drawn to Rick, you wanted to follow him, hoping he'd find his family. Shane was interesting, fun to watch on screen. You had likeable characters like Dale, quirky characters like Glenn...

In Fear the Walking Dead, the characters were just bad. I can't remember any of their names, nor am I invested in their story. And I know that this shoWw is supposed to depict the early stages of the outbreak, so I shouldn't expect a ton of action right away, but the buildup so far is just too slow. This episode spent more time on themes of drug addiction and dysfunctional families. The zombie stuff took a back seat to drama, and if I'm watching a show called Fear the Walking Dead, well, I want to fear the Walking Dead.

I'll still watch next week, because the premise is intriguing, and it might just take a couple episodes to get going, but I definitely was not impressed with the first installation.

That's what I'm saying. I think people expected TWD. They compare it. But this is a completely different show. It's a build-up with normal society descending into decline. Not "Holy sh!t! I'm surrounded by zombies!"
