What is your pet's favorite "human food"?

When I was growing up, Fig Newtons were like catnip for my cat. She went bonkers for them and would come from wherever she was when we ate them. She also liked pretzels, but not like Fig Newtons!

I find that Gaines-Burgers do very well on my grill. You need to be careful they don't fall through the grate however as they are slippery little rascals. Also, they are very hard to find now that production ceased on them back in the '90's. Fortunately, we have a rampant black market for them here in Cow Hampshire.

Cats love fresh salmon/ dogs loved bananas. For a longing time I home cooked for the critters, so they pretty much liked all human foods.

Fried Chicken. The cats seem to like it best. Let your guard down for a second when there’s fried chicken and they’re on it like stink on a skunk.

I grew up with a dog who loved apples and cheese. Our cats always acted like they wanted shrimp and then put their noses up at it when we tossed them a bite. (Who knew some cats keep kosher??) And all-out war was waged on us when there was a baked chicken on hand. You couldn't keep the cats away from it or from begging at the table while it was being consumed. (And the cats were the most obnoxious beggars, not the dogs! Weird.)

I don't think it's smart to feed pets people food, though. It's too salty, overcooked, fatty, and doesn't have the right kind of nutrients in it (like taurine for cats). I don't give pets people food very often.

I feed my cats breaded chicken. Oliver...the orphan we took in...loves a roast in the oven. He bawls if I do not give it to him. He liked my soup and will drink a bowl..veggies and all. This is fine for a treat but animals need to eat pet food to get a balanced diet.

I don't give my dog people food too often. When I do, it's usually a little bit of whatever meat we are having.

The past year or so, however, I have been giving him peanut butter. He has to take anti-inflammatory and pain meds twice a day and coating the pills in peanut butter makes the task much easier.
