Corny (for Chris Cornell) :)
or C.C.
That brought tears to my eyes.
the name is not going to be up to me, it has to be approved by the whole family.
I really do like CC though.
I like everyone's suggestions, and I will be passing them on to the family!
I think vote time will be happening tomorrow!
Keep 'em coming folks!

You should think about getting a crate that will be big enough for him when he is full grown and getting a divider to make the space small while he is a pup. If the crate is too big he may go potty in the back and sleep in the front. The divider solves that problem.

Crating is best when you aren't home and for sleeping at night. Just make sure he's not confined all day long. You will be tempted to let him out at night if he barks or whines. Just don't give in (I know it's hard) and he'll get used to the crate soon enough. Just be prepared for very early morning potty time. Both my Labs were awake and needing to go out at sunrise when they were little.

Solid rubber chew toys are good. Brody Dog can destroy a soft chew toy in about 3 minutes. Even the ones that say they are chew resistant.

Best of luck with your new pup!
Thank you for all that advise! I will pass that along to Karen.
We have a lot of questions for that lady tomorrow!

I don't know anything about crates, but I'm sure that lady will point us in the right direction as to the size, and stuff.
I can't wait to pick out some toys for him! What do I look for besides the hard rubber. I mean what do dog toys even look like?

There will be a whole section of dog toys at the pet store!

Pull ropes are good. Soft frisbees are good. Toys that crinkle are good. Tennis balls or any other kind of bouncing ball.

So sweet. Enjoy your last bath or shower alone without a lab. Poke their way in, they will. Just sigh and put up with a pup in the shower.

Soon as my Maggie was big enough to get over the tub, she was in.
She thought her name was ' puppy no.'

Used to calm her by running the water a little and she would stay in there with squeaky toys, batting away.

And get a frisbee. And get to know the local parks and lakes. :smile2: Peanut butter in a kong toy is your friend.

Very excited for you. What a sweetie face.:love_heart:

Kong's are great! I used one too for a while when the pups were young. I'd fill them with a portion of their daily food, seal the end hole with peanut butter and then freeze it. Great fun for them in the summer.

Well, we didn't get that puppy, we got his sister!
We have named her Phoenix.
At this moment, she is asleep on Kat's bed!
The cat, Bethy, has smacked her about 2 times, and hissed at her! Then the dog was barking at the cat! To funny.
Want to hear the weird part? Phoenix took a poo in the cat box!!
Here she is!

Congrats!

Look into free training classes at Petco or Petsmart. They will help with socialization.

Housetraining takes a lot of patience. The crate will help with that. Just be vigilant and take her out every hour or so to a designated place you want her to go. Outside right after eating as well. Every dog is different so it might take a couple weeks to months. Accidents will happen so patience is key.
