I just pruned back a Butterfly Bush here at Lynns, can't say I ever saw one before, least not bloomed, certainly never gave one a trim, and wow I really hope to see this pop color
It's called lantana. They come in all kinds of hot colors: screamin' yellow, hot pink, chaingang orange, purple, white, blue, light pink, red, mercurochrome orange...

I love wild violets, too. When I can find a bunch of them, I put them into my sterling silver baby cup and put it on the bathroom vanity or sink. Makes a pretty little arrangement that way.

My favorites are peonies, magnolias, lily of the valley, and pale pink roses.
These are peonies from the garden about three years ago, and the other is night-blooming jasmine outside my place in California. It literally awakened me at night if I slept with just the screen door closed. :)

When my mom died, I took transplants of her peonies. One was that pale pink, the other a darker purply red. I use them now to put on graves.

So do you associate them only with death? It's a shame if that's the case, but I understand the urge to put them on a grave - they're just beautiful.
Oh, absolutely not! They just bloom right before memorial day, so they are big beautiful flowers to take. And I keep some too for inside my house. I hope my bushes will be as full and abundant as my mom's were, they were huge gorgeous flowers!

I just dug them up in the fall (apparently best time) and dug a hole in my yard and planted them, mulched them heavily and prayed that they would take. And they did!
Oh, I thought you meant you took cuttings or something. I have four peonies, two pink and two white, which my dad ordered as bare root plants that he and I grew. They're doing well.
