No....no, those are Peyton Manning's phones after getting the texts about the Broncos offense this year. Right CAT?
I haven't been reading much football news. Not looking good or what? I am just going to try to enjoy this *maybe* last year of Peyton playing. No pressure! ;)

Have you seen the new DirecTV commercial with Eli? Pretty cute. I need to see it again, I was a little distressed to see a big banner first thing on my tv that ATT got the merger with DTV done, and only caught the tail end. I hope that the merger doesn't end up being a bad thing.

Just getting a few Peyton shots in...it's been a while........:biggrin-new: I haven't heard anything about Peyton so that is probably good news as far as his health is concerned. I haven't seen the Eli commercial, but I'll look for it. As far as the merger goes......I'm ready to call and complain when our bills go up....

Does the NFL have some kind of subpoena power for a player's phone? This isn't some kind of criminal investigation. What right does the NFL have to ask for Brady's phone? Seems like the NFL is basing most of their conclusions on a phone that was destroyed that I'm not sure they have a right to in the first place.
No, and that's part of the issue. They requested it, and even offered he could have his lawyer provide only the texts that were related to this time period. They can't force it, just request it. So, he just had the phone destroyed instead.

I did see a nice story a couple weeks ago, that he wrote a nice letter and sent an autographed, personalized picture to a family in Indiana who had lost a teenager to a drunk driver. The grandma had written Peyton and told him about the boy, and how he had been a huge fan since he was little, and remained a huge fan after Peyton went to Denver. He signed the picture In Memory Of, and then the kid's name...I thought that was pretty neat. :encouragement:

Yeah, higher prices and crappy customer service. I have always had excellent customer service from DTV, I am afraid that is going to go bye-bye. We have ATT as our cell provider, so maybe there will be a bundle deal that could lower prices, but I generally stay away from bundling deals. Ugh.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out in court because that's where it's heading today. Either way the timing on when Brady got rid of the phone makes him look pretty bad......

That is a good story, thanks for that CAT. I guess Peyton MIGHT not be so bad after all....:)

Did you see the Yahoo story the other day about the companies with the worst customer service.? Guess which two were in the top 5?

See? ;) I am going to have you wearing blue and orange any day now. ;;D

Oh boy. I believe it about ATT, I have had some run-ins with them. But never DTV! I rarely have anything go wrong, but have always been treated very well, both on the phone and in person at the house by the techs. So that surprises me a little bit!

Looking bad and what is legal are two different things.

I have no doubt that Brady did this. Common sense tells me that no one is going to alter game balls of one of the league's all-time great QB's without his instruction, knowledge & consent. But, the NFL's problem is that they can't really prove that Brady specifically had anything to do with (but I think he he did). So, the better thing to do would have probably been to fine the Pats and change the rules of how the balls are handled before the game so it's harder to mess with the balls. Even though I think I know that Brady was involved, I'm on his side now because this has almost turned into a case of how intrusive and arbitrary should your employer be allowed to get.

Absolutely. What I meant was Brady looks bad, guilty in other words, because he destroyed evidence. The smoking gun in this turns out to be a cell phone. One that Brady got rid of just before meeting Wells back in March. If bad timing has a first name it's that.

And the funny thing is Brady didn't have to do it. All he had to say (according to the TV and Radio pundits) was "no, you can't have the phone, it's private. I've got pictures of Giselle and my kids on there from our trip to Costa Rica. No."
