:biggrin-new:

Has your boy's season started yet? Our high schools get going in the next week or so.

We have! Two weeks ago there was a jamboree - we smoked 'em 22 - 0. My boy played the whole game - we've got a Freshman team, Junior Varsity and Varsity - he's on the Freshman team.

Our first real game was Monday and we lost 28 -20 - we were tied and they kept the ball most of the 4th quarter, just puttin' down the field - TD in the last 40 seconds and got their 2 point conversion - it was heartbreaking - but it was against a good team and it was a very exciting game. I'm happy my boy's a starter. He's big - right tackle this year.

Awesome! Sounds like they're going to be competitive and your son has an awesome position to play. A lot of responsibility.

My son is a baseball player and when he was in HS they wanted to move him right up to the varsity team his freshman year. I said no and he agreed. Being on varsity sounds great but he wouldn't have played nearly as much as he did when he was on the freshman team. Fortunately he had some coaches who listened....LOL

Very smart parenting! Practice is a lot of work, I don't think I could do it and spend most of the games on the sidelines. It's very hard to watch my boy play though (I watch with binoculars) - football is kind of brutal. The guy he kept pummeling got mad and hit him in the back when the play was over (FOUL!), so my son turned around and knocked him down by his shoulder pads, and the other guy jumped up with fists swinging. I'm all flapping around "don't hurt my son!!" and the dads around are like "lady, it's football!" Anyhow, they both got tossed out of the game. Le sigh. I almost wish he played something safe like the violin.

Alright...that (bolded) made my laugh!!

Sounds like you're being a good parent to me. Concern is there with any sport and you're concerned. Not a problem in my book. I always told my boy (and still do) that I'll be at every game and cheer him on as long as I am able. I tell him that he can play as long as he is happy in doing so and I won't be upset when he hangs the cleats up for good. He's now a sophomore in college and still playing...:D

If the Redskins release RG3, where will he end up? I'm sure he will get plenty of attention.
Teams that won't require their QB to be a pocket passer. Cowboys, Texans, Jets. Tony Romo is old, plenty of problems at QB for the Texans, and the Jets need someone... anyone!
