Sure there was. There was circumstantial and credible evidence in the texts that were produced and credible inferences that can be drawn from the destruction of evidence. Spoliation of evidence - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

But beyond all that, the judge made his decision, and unless there's an appeal that says otherwise, it's a done deal, and the NFL can just live with it, establish protocols to make sure that particular form of cheating gets thwarted going forward, and move on.

Credible inferences?

Wow!

Just wow.

I guess people believe whatever they want.

The way some people believe that the Broncos' championships in the late '90s were not a result of willfully circumventing the salary cap. Funny, though, I never saw ESPN go into maximum overdrive to make sure everybody "knew" that the Broncos were "cheaters."

In point of fact, most fans I talk to don't even know that happened.

So . . . truth is relative, I guess.

The Wells Report is a well-established joke. Mortensen's initial report was, quite simply, a lie.

The texts from the ball boys can appear damning, if your mind is already made up, but there is no rule against Brady telling his equipment guys to inflate the balls only to the lowest end of the range (and be kind of a jerk about it, in the bargain). There is nothing in the "deflator" texts to suggest anything else was done. It's all merely conjecture. As to the phone, Brady is under no obligation to turn over a device that might contain heaven-only-knows what kind of embarrassing personal information. What Brady did do was turn over transcripts of his communications, so the physical destruction of the device was meaningless. Which is to say nothing of the fact that the league never actually asked Brady to turn over his phone and only floated the "destruction" story after the fact to make Brady appear guilty.

The thing was a witch-hunt from the very beginning, instigated by two teams -- the Ravens and the Colts -- who can't beat the Patriots on the field, so they tried to beat them through chicanery and are in the process of failing.

Sure. Not conviction. Inferences.

I guess people believe whatever they want.

Or disbelieve.

The court's ruling is the final word and effectdively resolves the debate. I'm happy to move on. And this is obviously a much more inflammatory topic to some than it is with me - I frankly find our preoccupation and investment in sports befuddling and bemusing, not to mention misguided - so I'll decline engaging further on this one. It's not worth producing more angst and anger within this fluffy thread in this good-natured forum than already may exist.

Well, the Broncos got an ugly win today. In the final accounting, though, there's only one word in that sentence the really matters. :D

DiO, I couldn't have cared less about the Jets before this forum, but thanks to the amiableness of this forum, every time I see them on the W side, I think, "Oh, good. DiO will be happy."

Lots if talk on the sports shows today about the Dolphins replacing Philbin. Might be the way to go if they couldn't beat the Jets with those refs doing everything they could to try and get the fish the win.

I really hate to see a whole new regime again. Seems like the Dolphins have been going through this every 2 or 3 years since Shula was pushed out. Since the old owner, Joe Robbie died, the Dolphins have had 2 billionaire owners that don't really know anything about football. I'm not saying that they don't care but the problem is that they are always chasing the hot names thinking that there is one person that can right everything (whether it's a coach, a GM, or a player). When it comes to a coaching search, it seems that they are always looking for the college coach that won the last National Championship or a hot offensive or defensive coordinator (that has never been a head coach). These billionaire owners think they are running an investment firm and that's the way they hire people. Ever since the Shula-Robbie era ended, there has been a terrible disconnect between the coach, the owner and the front office (GM). Unless they can get the top fixed, I'm not sure if there's a coach out there that can succeed on a consistent level.

Thanks.

Peyton may not have the arm anymore, but he continues to find ways to win. And that’s all that counts. I don’t know if he’ll return next year. I wonder who they’ll pick to replace him if he doesn’t return.

LOL. One more Jets win and I equal all of last year’s happiness. I remain cautiously optimistic. I also root for teams in various games simply because of the members here. Well, except for the Patriots, were it will be a cold day in hell (or until both Belichick and Brady retire) before I’ll ever cheer them on.

If Chris Ivory stays healthy and they keep Geno out of the lineup, I think they will be good, There's nothing wrong with the D.
