Condolences, Sunny. The Broncos have been on the L side more than not in Superbowls, and I know all too well how tough that feeling is for that home-team enthusiasm to get crushed.

In this case, by a ferocious defense. Or as Manning said, in his generous (and realistic) way, "I'm just glad to be on the same team as this defense."

It's a game. Cam Newton is young and talented, and he'll get there again and make you all proud.

Thanks, Grandpa. Yeah, I know it's just a game, and I'm not upset that the Broncos won. I just wish that the Panthers had showed up to play. It was the worst that they've played all season. Their defense was good....not as good as Denver's.....but good enough.
Their offense was an embarrassment.

Oh well, at least my margaritas were cold and delicious!

Now it's time to devote my coaching assistance to college basketball, and my beloved Tar Heels.......they need me. :biggrin2:

I honestly think that they were shell-shocked by the ferocity of the Denver defense. It looked like the strategy was to punch the Panthers in the mouth early and often and keep them off-balance for the rest of the game.

"Just a game." I agree, but the players feel differently, I bet.

Every player on the Superbowl winning team ended up with close to an extra $200,000 in NFL playoff bonuses. That doesn't include whatever incentives the teams have with individual player contracts. In Peyton Manning's case, the $200K was chump change. He agreed, and good for him, to take a $4 million pay cut to play for the Broncos while keeping them under the salary cap. But.... if he got them through the AFC championship, that was a $2 million bonus. Ka-ching. Then if he actually quarterbacked the winning Superbowl effort - another $2 million bonus. Ka-ching!

Not to count what other endorsements he'll get now. I bet Anheuser-Busch even promised to write a check if he mentioned "Budweiser" in his post-game comments. KA-CHING!!

Denver adores Peyton Manning. There couldn't be a better send-off. Please, Mr. Manning, please, take the money, stuff it in the saddlebags, and ride off. There's plenty of good to be done as a role model and elder statesmen for an often-troubled (albeit financially invincible) league.
