....Browns still blow......
AFC East Cowers In Fear As Jets Sign Josh McCown
Oh great! The Jets bring in a 38 year old career backup to lead the team in 2018. I guess George Blanda wasn't available. Well, there's always 2019, I guess.
I thought you'd be happy.
At least they didn't sign Cutler to a 7 year $200 million dollar deal.
The deal is only for one year and they have salary cap problems this upcoming year. They can always go after Cutler in 2019.
Could be worse.....they could be talking to Joe Namath. At 73, I'm sure he still has a little pep in his step
At 73, Namath probably wouldn't have done any worse than Fitzpatrick did last year.
.....too bad they didn't snap up Romo.......
The Cowboys will probably release Romo this year. Actually, if it wasn't for his contract dollars (he'll probably be looking for a deal that transfers his contract at $14 million) , I think Romo would have been a good short term pick for the Jets.
Yeah.....then he could break his collarbone and sit out half the season on their team.
I do actually like Romo. He's just too much of an injury risk. I think he's got brittle bones, or something.
He’s had two bad years now, playing only 1 and 4 games. But before that it, being the starting QB, it was 15, 15, 16, 16, 6, 16, 13, 16, 16 ,and 16. I think he’s gotten a bum rap on the injury thing.
Were talking American Football, right?? The sport where men tackle other men so hard it looks like they are burying them? Why not not make it a sport for men by taking off all that protection and calling it Rugby?
Because American Football players have more sense?
Don't you think he look sensible?
Just when you think the NFL can't get any dumber, they do. This was in a tweet sent out by Troy Vincent:
We're developing an educational training video for players to show clear examples of appropriate and inappropriate celebrations.
The Patriots can give you a great deal on a Jimmy G or Jacoby Brisette model. It will only cost you your first round draft picks for the next 5 years...
Some exciting and unusual moves taking place in New York. Josh McCown has been signed by the Jets as a quarterback, while Geno Smith and Brandon Marshall have gone from the Jets to the Giants. Strange to think that both of them will still have the same home stadium, and probably won't need to move house!
What do you all make of these moves? Are there any Jets or Giants fans here? George RR Martin is a fan of both teams, and will no doubt be writing about the trades on his blog any day now, in his usual brilliant, informed and opinionated way!
Personally, I would like to see Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg get plenty of playing time this year, just to see what they've got. I hope McCown has only been brought in as a mentor to the younger guys and a dependable backup, should the need arise. Marshall could become part of a formidable and entertaining double-act with Odell Beckham, which would be a lot of fun if it worked out. And Geno - I don't believe he is as bad a player as his reputation suggests. It'll be interesting to see how he develops within a healthier organisation with better coaching.
