I NEVER watch football. I glance at it as someone in my family is watching it and I walk through the room.

The day Joe Theismann broke his leg, I saw it. Not instant replay, as it happened saw it and was totally freakin' mortified. The camera angle on that couldn't have been any clearer than that one.

I watched that one live too DJ. 1985 I think, we had three channels on cable. I remember my uncle Ronnie almost hurling when it happened.

who was that head coach who got the sack today or yesterday, I think he was the coach of the New York Giants. I like American Football, we get games on here on free to air sometimes I watch them. My favourite player of all time is Joe Montana because he was super cool under pressure. I liked that player in the mid-1980's who was only about 5 foot 10 but built slolid I think he had the name 'the refrigerator'. It was another guy who, I think he might have played for the Bengals.

Ben McAdoo was the coach who was canned today.

And you're thinking of William "The Refigerator" Perry. The Chicago Bears great was part of their '85 Super Bowl team.

I swear I could hear the snap...........shudders...........LT was ef'ed for a while after that!
Do y'all remember the commercial where the ESPN guys were sitting around and breaking pencils, bread sticks, crab legs, etc, while Joe was trying to do commentary? I tried to do a Google search but I couldn't find it. It was so bad!

Wow, and in mediocre sports news, the University of Arkansas hired......pause for effect.....Hunter Yurachek as the new Athletic Director. You may be wondering, who is Hunter Yuracheck?....so am I....Really? Someone with absolutely no experience in the SEC, whose past schools include the University of Houston......and Coastal Carolina. Wow, I'm pretty sure this was a case of "Hmmm, he's the only one that applied because no one else wants to inherit this train wreck of a football program." I'm looking forward to him hiring another Big 10 or Big 12 coach who can build a program like Bret Bielema tried to and fail....miserably. I'm thinking perhaps the U of A should seek membership in another conference, perhaps Conference USA where we might actually be competitive once in a decade...sheeshhhh. Oh well, Roll Tide, Doc, I'm officially off Razorback football and getting behind a team that at least wins conference games now and then...lol

I could recommend Appalachian State......they're in the Sunbelt Conference, and from what I hear, are doing pretty well. Yes, they are our local college team.....but I've grown to hate all things ASU. Everything here has become all about the college, and they've grown to the point where they've basically taken over the town.....and don't even get me started on the self entitled student population.....

I think the whole state of Arkansas is collectively scratching its head this morning wondering what the U of A is thinking but I honestly think no one wants to come here right now. Our sports programs are at a very low point right now across the board and it all starts with the football program sucking...badly. A couple of weeks ago at the last football game, there was no traffic around town...none. Usually a home game means I stay out of town because it's gridlock around the U of A campus...I had no problems at all navigating around town all day, that told me more than anything what kind of state our football program is in. One of the guys I used to work with at the PD who was working security at the game said you could have sat anywhere you wanted to in the stadium, even in the student section. Now, we go get a guy who NO one has ever heard of, has no ties to Arkansas and looks to be here just mainly to pick up a bigger paycheck than the U of Houston could pay him. Weird days for Razorback athletics. How's it feel to have a consistently decent basketball program Sunny...I wouldn't know, we haven't had one since 1995 about the same time we were competitive in football....

Gronk has been Gronk’d for a game and about $300k.

Deservedly so. No excuse for his actions,
As a Jets fan Grunk's punishment should have had him hanged, beheaded, drawn and quartered, and had his entrails cut out and burned! :p

But in all seriousness a $300K fine seems to be bit excessive.

And in other news... Giants are cleaning house with the ouster of their coach and GM.

Goodell. Patriots. Need I say more? Honestly, though, he deserved consequences for that hit but I'm surprised it was only a one game suspension.

They could have handed out a million dollars in fines last night during the Steelers vs. Bengals game. It was brutal, those teams do NOT like each other very much, lots of cheap shots all throughout the game.

Did the Patriots sit their starters or something? I had to work and couldn't watch the game, but I swear it looks like the Dolphins got the W against them.

The Dolphins always seem to put together one good effort each year against the Patriots. It's really puzzling. That was the best the Dolphins O looked all year.

That backup Alabama running back is looking good. Since they drafted him, even though he didn't play much, he would show flashes of awesomeness. Now that he's playing regularly, he's looking like a rare smart draft pick for the Dolphins. ;-D

The Patriots were missing some key players. But the Dolphin defense and the pressure they put on New England’s receivers and quarterback seems to be the formula the rest of the teams need to adopt to take down the juggernaut of Brady and company. But the Pats will rebound this year... alas, they always do.
