Above all else I was hoping for a close exciting game, with Peyton losing at the end (Sorry CAT) of course.

What did you all think of Broadway Joe's coat?

I don't know about the coat, but I think Joe was drunk.....LOL

I don't normally post in the Football Cave as a rule, but I found an interesting fact about "gunslingers":

gunslinger
Term for a quarterback who plays with an aggressive and decisive manner by throwing deep, risky passes. These quarterbacks usually possess the strong arm needed to throw deep effectively. NFL Network named Brett Favre as the best gunslinger of all time.

I expected the Seahawks to win. I thought their defense (forced myself to type it that way) might nullify the Broncos offense. I also thought the Seahawks' QB might have a bit of a wobble, given the pressure. Given all that, I expected it to be a one-sided affair, but pretty low-scoring, so I went for a Seahawks win, 17-6.
At least I was close to getting Denver's score right, eh?
(One pass, Kaepernick. One pass in the Conference Championship game and the Seahawks don't get there. Instead you throw a couple of ints. I suppose there's always next year.)

I think Joe quit drinking after the Suzie Kolber debacle a few years ago. (If you haven't seen it, he kept telling her he wanted to kiss her while they were doing a halftime interview). That embarrassed him into rehab the next day.
I love your use of that word "debacle". It is almost as good as 'sully' IMO - I love language and etymology and all that other sh*t

Everyone keeping track of what's happening with free agency so far?

Broncos picked up Aqib Talib and DeMarcus Ware, should be good additions on the defense side.

I am less happy about them letting Eric Decker go. He just signed with the Jets. That bums me out, I was really hoping they would find a way to keep him.

Darren Sproles to the Eagles is interesting.

The NFL (No Fun League) is at it again. Today they have banned goalpost dunking. Here is a quote from a deadspin article that sums it up nicely:

Only the NFL would stipulate that the ball cannot be used as a prop, that the ball must remain a ball, spiritually. Dunking? That's illegal use of the imagination, to steal a line from Drew Magary.

Soon, there will be an NFL game on TV every night of the week. The players will participate in these games without ever emoting in any way, shape, or form, and American football fans will silently watch these games in dark rooms lit only by the soul-withering glow of their television sets. They will eat puréed buffalo wings out of tupperware while they watch. Troy Aikman will be saying, "That's exactly right, Joe," on an endless loop. This is your future, America.

Darrell Revis as a Patriot. I bet Jets fans are real happy.

Revis is a huge threat... when healthy. But the Patriots were 12 & 4 last season without him. The Pat’s have many needs and to spend $12 million on him to be what... 12 & 4 again doesn’t make sense IMO? As a Jets fan, I keep watch at what happens with the dreaded Patriots because my team plays them twice each season. Revis and Decker will cancel each other out.

The addition of Vick is a good one for the Jets as long as they don't expect him to do everything... and keep him healthy. Happy feet is not good for a quarterback's health these days. But the Jets really should have concentrated on getting a quality cornerback in free agency. I don't get why they ignored their biggest problem.

(and it seems each year the Pat’s pick up some recent Jets player... to get the Jets playbook perhaps. Just can’t trust that team.)

The Bills owner and founder Ralph Wilson passed away today at the age of 95. He never saw his team lift the Lombardi, but he definitely got some mileage out of life. 95 years, 54 of them spent owning the Bills.
