I'd like MrsSmeej's poems better if she were a Manning fan. ;)

Is it just me who thinks there should be a "Manning Over-saturation" version of the NFL? xD Peyton has - obviously - achieved a massive milestone, is great at what he does, and seems, in interviews, like a genuinely lovely and down-to-earth guy. I do not want to take ANYTHING from his achievement. I just think that the media coverage of it was a bit much - in the UK, the presenters went on and on and on about it before, during and after he hit the touchdown record, in my experience. I'm left thinking, "I like the guy! He's both brilliant and humble! He's great, and he deserves his greatness! But I don't need to be reminded of this for ALL of EVERY game." To me, it seemed like the coverage was taking away from the achievement rather than celebrating it. And to me, that shouldn't be.

The Over-Saturation Version would be like:
"BEEEEEEEEP put in a solid performance for the Broncos, while BEEEEEEEP managed to lead the Giants to victory." And relevant people would be pixelated ;;D LoL. Again, Peyton deserves every bit of credit, but the media coverage risks alienating people. Just me sharing my thoughts on that; I hope I made my meaning clear :wink2:

And being in the UK, you probably don't get to see him on thousands of TV commercials like we do. ;-D I see Peyton more than anyone I know. ;-D

I think Australia is entering a team into the NFL in 2016. There's a NRL player, Jarrod Hayne, who has decided to quit Rugby League and try his hand at American Football. I heard he might sign a contract with Seattle, Detroit or San Francisco. I think he's going to play as a wide receiver. He's about six-one, 100 kg, and fast.

See, I never even thought of that. [Brings back memories of the Samuel L Jackson interview..."I'm not Laurence Fishburne!!" Well worth a watch, if you haven't seen it; SLJ's sarcasm is blistering!] Well, at least he seems nice; it would certainly be worse if he was obnoxious ;)

Very depressed now that the Saints are out...*sob* But still loving the team, and looking forward to the Super Bowl! There are plenty of teams still in who I like, so NFL Sunday is still a weekly highlight for me :smug: The Pats are still in, so I can join in with the mister...and the cat's team are still in. Yep, we got the cat to choose a team, via the time-tested names-in-the-hat method. :biggrin-new: Believe it or not, we did it twice, and she chose the same team twice, no lie. She also, after choosing the same first bit of paper twice, batted out a second piece twice...the same team again; her chosen team's opponents for the next match. It was crazy-weird, like she chose her team, and pointed out who they were going to beat. She is a Chargers fan; they won their next match against the other team she picked :glee: :highly_amused:

Well, it's Black Monday. Rex Ryan and his GM John Idzik were finally axed by the Jets. GM Phil Emery and Marc Trestman were fired by the Bears. And Mike Smith got fired from the Falcons.

Of course, Jim Harbaugh is going on to coach Michigan. I think that letting Harbaugh go will be a mistake for the Niners. Not everything Harbaugh did was on point (letting Alex Smith go wasn't the smartest decision, IMO), but he's light years better than anything else that could possibly be available to the Niners at this point. They might strike gold, so to speak, but I don't know if they'll do it so soon after Harbaugh.
