The deflation/inflation probably wouldn't be so big of a deal, particularly considering the New England dominance, if the coach hadn't shown this past and unrepentant penchant for dishonor in his strategies. Yes, I consider snooping on other teams' playcalling to be less than honorable. He's made the bed that he now lies in.

This is almost exactly what I heard said on the tube last night. Why do it? When your team is so good?

Wow! Nobody in the Patriots organization has any idea how 11 of their 12 balls got deflated. Totally credible. ;)

Sounds like we may have another “Magic Bullet” type mystery on our hands. :)

I want to believe Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. I want to. I'd rather dislike them for how good they are on the field then what shady business their organization (or themselves) might be up to off the field. Mostly because this type of cheating seems pointless given how easily the Patriots can beat up most teams in the NFL.

I want teams to beat them by showing them up rather than drag them down by causing controversies like this. If the Patriots win the Super Bowl or even if they don't there will be an invisible asterisk by their appearance for quite a while. Spygate still hasn't gone away. This won't, either.

Not saying other teams haven't done underhanded stuff (that's despicable, too), but there should be some pureness to the competitor spirit. The will to be better should take priority over the will to take shortcuts.

I believe this has turned Seattle into the good guys outside of New England in the up and coming Super Bowl. For once even Richard Sherman is quieted down a bit. Although he makes a very valid point here: Richard Sherman: No One Will Be Suspended For 'Deflategate,' But My Teammate Would Be For Gold Shoes?

I don't think that Belichick had anything to do with this. Nobody is going to do anything to a Patriot football without Tom Brady's direction.

Not that this is an excuse but lots of players (and owners) do stuff like this. Baseball pitchers scuff balls, baseball players cork bats, teams steal signals, football kickers were so notorious for messing with the footballs that the NFL banned them from touching them. Owners do things to the fields that may help their team (Dio'Bolic may remember the Dolphins not covering the field with a tarp during two days of rain before the AFC championship game between the Jets and Dolphins effectively slowing the speedier Jets team down). Brady got caught; fine him and warn him him the penalties will increase if caught again. But don't ever think that he is the only guy out there doing this stuff. Players do whatever they can get away with. They always have and always will.

For instance, spitting on an opponent's hand when down on the line to pull him offsides. (Our high school coach directed our players to do this to a topnotch player from the other side to get him so mad, he charged and was thrown out of the game. It worked.)

Yeah, thanks for the memories. :( As I recall back then the Jets and Dolphins HATED each other.

And at least least both teams had to play in identical conditions. :)
