Every year I get asked what I want for Dads' Day, and every year I ask for the same thing: A day to myself to call my own. The idea is apparently taking hold. In town here, both sons, one bio and the other by marriage, both of them dads themselves, are doing the same thing.

Well, my day was yesterday. Let me tell you how freeing it is to come up to a T intersection, not knowing or caring whether you turn left or right. Or finding yourself in a traffic jam and thinking, "Meh. I'll get through it. I don't have to be anywhere."

I came home relaxed and happy, to find that Grandma had taken her whole day to do a field-day on the house, thoroughly cleaning and arranging it. Because whatever kind of a dad I may be, better or worse, she's that kind of Mom and Wife.

Anyway. Thank you, all you well-wishers! And Happy Fathers Day out there to all who live up to it. :D
