I don't normally put much stock in Letters of Authenticity as I've seen far too many attributing obvious fakes as being the real deal but in this case, I would agree that that appears to be Stephen's handwriting. Best of luck with your sale.

Thanks for the feedback!
Could you please give me your opinion on the other signed 1st/1st CARRIE I have?

Probably his although it looks different than his current handwriting, but then so does mine from over 30 years ago. ;-D There are enough similarities to say as an educated guess that it is genuine. We had one come in a few years ago that even Steve wasn't sure about and took it to Tabby to have her weigh in on it. =D

Looks like the real deal to me. I don't think it being inscribed to someone really matters too much anymore, especially a 1st printing of Carrie as there aren't too many of those around anymore. Most are locked up in someone's collection and are hard to find now.

It probably won't matter to an avid collector.....but unless it's inscribed to me or I have a personal connection to the person, I won't spend crazy money on it. 2K is definitely crazy money :biggrin2:

Yep, it's cray-cray! There was one time when there was an inscribed copy for sale that had my name on it, but it was way too pricey for me at the time. Oh well......

I'll inscribe a copy of my book for ya. I haven't written it yet, though.....it probably won't be worth much....just filled with personal anecdotes from 30 years of living with the nut magnet in my head.....but it won't cost ya anything, either ;;D

If you think I have a crazy price, then take a look at what's for sale on eBay.

Me too!
I actually have a 1st of Carrie.....it's old and slightly worn, and not signed....but I gave $6 for it at the thrift store. I'm okay with that

I always forget to look for firsts, though I have a few just from buying them the first day :) Those are in very worn condition, though, so probably not worth much. Still, if I had the chance to have anything signed, it would be my copy of Different Seasons--first edition, first hardback I ever bought with my own money (a big deal to a kid), and I can't count how many times I (and now my kids) have read it. If my house caught on fire, it would be one of the first things I'd grab (after people and pets were safe) :)

I am sorry, we meant no disrespect. I have seen copies going for over $4,000 all the way up to over $10,000. It's just a wee bit too steep for my budget is all...

That's funny! My first hardback of King's was The Talisman. I had to be talked into buying it for myself by two friends who were with me at the time. I was POOR!
