...say what you like, but couples who have spent so many years together and are as devoted to one another as the Bush’s were-that bond of love morphs into an almost physical connection....and when one reaches the clearing, the other succumbs to the pull and soon cleaves to their missing half....I hope for the President, a peaceful and joy filled reunion....

My parents were the same after 50 years together - my Dad was lost without my Mom.

Parkinson's and he still has it.
Sorry to hear your Dad has Parkinson's

I just realized you were letting me know George HW Bush has Parkinson's (not your father).

I was actually telling HillLover35 that my father had Alzheimer's and was with my Mom for 50 years.

My stepdad lasted about two months after my Mom passed.

One of the sweetest things I ever read was this letter George wrote to his mother after Barbara and he lost their daughter Robin to leukemia. It’s almost poetic in its cadence and emotional story. I thought it appropriate for this thread. I couldn’t get the text to copy and paste here, but I’ll post the link. Scroll down to where the letter begins: “Dear Mum,”
