I wish I'd known. What happened Friday night is a mystery to me. I can't recall. I usually do nothing, and that may have been what happened. I know I got up at 6 on Saturday morning, fed the dogs and went back to bed until 9. I never do that.

Sorry I missed the party. I'll bring something special next time.

It seems to me you were experiencing a coffee crisis of some sort (or was that Monday morning?)

Deep isn't scary, it's interesting!

The Man has exercised his tremendous Cocktail Dad skills and produced some of the best wish key sours that I have ever tasted. In a way, it's good (for the state liquor store, anyway) that our state just dropped the legal limit (.08 to .05): If we'd gone out, I would have had one drink and called it quits so I could legally drive home. Now that I have to stay in, I've had 2 and may have more. :)

Yay!

I'll have what skimom2 is having. (Not really. I have a very nice brandy.)

(I'm going to wake up tomorrow with a headache. Huevos rancherors to the rescue!)

If I remember correctly, The Man is a good cook too, right? AND a skilled bartender??! That one's a keeper (keepah :) )!

Does anyone else wonder why we get so deep and prophetic late at night? Is it the alcohol or the darkness of night? ;;D

It's a fascinating phenomenon, isn't it? :) It can't be alcohol, because I don't drink and I'm just as susceptible to the late night philosophising and over-sharing as anyone! It's probably something to do with the intimacy of the atmosphere, the "this is a moment outside time" feeling that settles over you when your day's work is done, the darkness descends and we sit around the (metaphorical) fire, protected from the wolves and the weather and whatever else may be out there... The concerns of the day are put aside - they'll be back tomorrow, but for a few hours we live outside them and can meet as our "real" selves.

I wonder if any language has a word for it? There's a fascinating question! And do they have a word for the slight awkwardness and embarrassment you feel the next morning? :D

The way we see barbacoa (there are a gazillion types) it's beef cheeks. Moist and very tender. Wonderfully delicious. We also have barbacoa that is cabrito. (baby goat) In my culture, barbacoa is Sunday morning food. Catholics go to Sunday mass sans breakfast to receive the Host and we get home and throw a mighty munch on the barbacoa. Traditionally, barbacoa is in a corn tortilla but Tex-Mex you have it in a flour tortilla. We, being open minded and flexible, put a corn tortilla in a flour tortilla (double-Decker) and stuff it with the meat and all the fixings.

:wack:
I love warm corn tortillas. Flour tortillas, too. Double decker would fix my dilemma. Have you ever tried the freshly baked flour tortillas in Wal-Mart bakery?
