Yes, there actually is a TV series based on the movie. And, it was surprisingly good. I just stumbled across season 1 on Netflix. It originally aired on the El Rey Network in 2014.

I was skeptical going in. I really enjoyed the original movie. I consider it to be the first of the Grindhouse movies that Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino collaborated on. I have to say they did a good job with re-imagining the movie and making it sustainable over a 10 episode season. Robert Rodrigues worked on developing it for TV so that helped. Don Johnson and James Remar have cameos. Fez from That 70's Show has a major part and he is actually a believable bad guy. Robert Patrick was on season 1 as well.

Season 2 premieres on August 25th on the El Rey Network. Robert Rodriguez is co-founder of the network so it makes sense that one of his properties was adapted for it. Danny Trejo and Jeff Fahey have roles on season 2. Not sure when season 2 will make it's way to Netflix. El Rey is not available on Verizon so I have to wait for it to make its way over :(
